Not every song on nightmare is about "the rev". This one is clearly about drug use. Never in question, lethal injection. Didn't think that drug use was a big deal but details blurry lost him too early the subject quickly slipped into the family of wasted drug users. You can't win the drug user fight, it just slides to drug abuse. So when you are down "we all have answers to find" don't turn to drug because you can't win that fight.

This song is hitting everything that is happening with my little brother (19yrs old)right now. He recently attempted suicide. The words that I was looking to say to him are in this song. Tragedy happens to all of us and somewhere in this world someone always has it worse than you. I am so fortunate that is was not sucesseful in his attempt but and the same time I am so affraid for him if he didn't learn from this. This song just rocks it in such an intense way right now. It really nails the words that I was looking for and now I can just tell him listen to these words to this song, since music is a language that everyone can understand. God bless you avenged! You guys might make this work for me and my brother!

The line welcome to the family is like saying welcome to the club, but its more than a club, its a family. A family of 'disturbed' people trying to find reason in life (not for life, don't get it confused its not suicidal its finding a purpose). The song is about dealing with your decisions and consequences. Its about how perspective and priorities change over time. Its about growing up basically and how even if your perceptions change we still have things that tie us all, an empty feeling (even if only once in a while) and questions and life problems. The song was written way before the new drummer was there and even before rev died. Everything was tracked for this record in december when he died but the album still has to be mixed, edited and mastered which takes time, usually several months, so the album wasn't released until after his death, bit it was finished.

It's not talking about some one in particular. It's like death in first person it's talking to you saying that if you are too violent you'll end up paying (with your life) the consequences of your acts and you will end up hurting the people who loved you. And ask if you figure it out or (here in the afterlife) we will say to you: welcome to the family. Feeling sad and empty it's not an excuse to be a violent person.

Gonna venture to say that its about christianity and turning to it. Its like he's having a debate with someone over it. "you can't win this fight" "welcome to the family". It does have references to the rev, and if youre very biblically literate, you can pick up on some really deep stuff they bring up. In fact, I'm pretty sure the whole nightmare album is about becoming a christian.

Its a tribute to jimmy. They didn't just lose their drummer, they lost a best friend, soul mate and family member. Even though jimmy was not related to anyone in the band, he considered himself as one of the family. They welcome his spirit into the avenged sevenfold family. They all have unanswered questions about jimmy. They know that when they die jimmy will welcome them with open arms, so they are doing the same thing. They love jimmy and want to know that his spirit is still with them. Jimmy was a close friend of mine. He was a great person, great drummer and he was like a long lost brother to me. He's the kind of guy that you can run too and know that he'll protect you. We all miss him dearly but knowing that where he has gone too is the best place for him is enough to reassure us. I luckily got to spend time with jimmy, synyster, zacky, johnny and matt before jimmy died and it was like being part of a family. They were their own family and will still continue to be until the end of time. Are. I. P. Jimmy. I miss you so much! Lay away a place for me!
