Every time I here this song I cry in tears. This song just touches my heart and I cry every time I hear it. I just can't help myself when I cry, I can't hold it in when listen to it. This song has a meaning to it. It means if someone puts you down and makes your life hard, you should just get back up and keep going and never give up. There is a lot of pain, this is for being molested at the age of 5 by my older cousin, bullied from pre- school to high school and for my first boyfriend of 4 years who I loved and helped to find a better direction in life, who emotionally abused me and manipulated me and was n't there when I needed him the most and turned out to be a narcissist. Now it's one month since I kicked him out of my life, and apartment. The scars take a long time to heal, but I will rise above, like a skyscraper.

I just love this song. I think it's about someone who has been through a lot of "junk" in their life b/c of how other people have treated them, but they know they are stronger than what these people think. For me, it's about having christ being the center of my life & knowing that no matter what others say about me or how they treat me, I still have him & he's all I need. Demi may or may not have meant that part with this song, but for me, it's how I take it.

This song means alot to me. I think this song means no matter people try to tear you down you can still rise above anything. Its like the saying "sticks n stones may break my bone' but ur silly wowrds wont hurt me. " in ur life ur gonna have people tell you ur not gud enough, ur ugly, ur fat, nobody loves you, are you may even have a fren that betrayed you. But gotta look at ur self in the mirror n say this is me, n I was born this way. It helped me get through a horrible part of my life, its still going on but its all getting better, thanks to you demi lovato! Reading and watching your interviews and listening to this song made me feel like I am an important part of this world! I even stopped cutting myself! Wish I could get rid of these scars though. Its not about her being bullied.
It's about the press and all the bad publicity she got and the way people were on the internet so she was cutting and become bulimic.
Even though I love this song and think it's completely beautiful I think she should have seen it coming a little more - I mean how much do they warn you about this stuff, what famous person doesn't get horribly torn down by people on the internet, michael jackson? One of the most famous singer dancer songwriter and choreographer of all time - the press believed he molested kids, that's kind of worse.

For me it means you can stand up to anyone no matter how small or big. I want to do that to a lot of people and sometimes I do. Like on fri. I was on the bus and there was very few seats open, also the bus driver has a rule about boys can't sit with girls, I have a 5 year old with me (my brother which you are allowed to sit with) and the bus driver seperated us. The seat behind me starts to say" well i don't see y that girl was complaining so much there's a seat right there" but that seat had a boy in it who was not my relative so I told her off. And I felt great about it. Plus I have to sit with my bro you never know what he'll do.

I was bullied for a long time, things changed though. I would always cut myself when they bullied me, but now I don't even bother to read the messages a second time like I used to. Now I help other kids who get bullied at my school, a friend and myself started an antibully organization, and we have beem able to get dozens of people to understand how wrong it is. Thanks to this song I started to realize the bullying only hurts me when I let it. This song (to me) means that if you believe in yourself, that if you believe that you are beautiful, or anything people say you arent, then you can't be brought down.

I have suffered of depression since I was 8 when my mom left my dad. I was bullied all through elementary school. + and things got worse online. Cyberbullying washave a story barely similar to your's. A huge cause of my depression. I was called fat, lardo, and many things that were negative towards my weight. After a while, I just stopped eating and I made myself throw up. I started cutting when I was 10. My mom noticed my extreme weight loss and took me to my doctor. I was tested and the results were not great. I was diagnosed of three things. My doctor looked at me and said "demi, you're bipolar, you have bulimia, and you're anorexic. " he explained what all that was, and I just lost it. When I was 13, I came home from school and got on facebook. One of the girls that bullied me posted on my wall. It said "demi, you're a fat skank. Go die. " I wasnt surprised. She always told everyone I had a fake virgin act. It was humiluating. People commented and said alomost the same things. I cried for a few hours and then tried to kill myself. My mom walked in on me while I tried and took me to the emergency room. I never had one more suicidal thought. But I did continue to cut. I'm 15, and still a virgin. I just didn't understand why they were so mean. I thought there had to be something wrong with me for them to say that stuff.

Told you are not worth it and should be thought of, but in the end you are not made of the things these people think they are taking, you are made of somthing that is much deeper than your skin and the clothes you put on. I believe that Demi has gone through so many hard times, from; rehab to the cutting to ending her Disney career. But her quitting Disney to go to rehab and make better for herself is probably the best message she can give anyone. It means that she gave something great up so that she could seek help, to make herself better. She needed that recovery, and she sought to get it. I'm quite a fan of hers and I support her in any decision she's made or going to make. I've gone through the whole cutting situation, and it's hard to stop, especially when that's your way of releasing any emotional pain. I became dependant on it and quitting it has been the best decision I've ever made.

To me this song stands for overcoming your deepest fears, and sadly for many people that would be bullying, sour relationships, or just feeling like you're good enough, when in reality you are perfect just the way you are. I was severely abused when I was really young. Actually from the time I was born until I was 10 years old. I am now 16, and stronger than ever. So this is what I think when I hear this song. Telling my abusers I am now stronger, and I didn't let what happened to me ruin my life. They tried to tear me down and they did not succeed.

What it means to me is somewhat different. It has two sides for me. It's a sad slow song, yet gives you a message of not giving up and getting away from those who hurt you or have hurt you. It's telling me that you can break me, my happiness, but you won't ruin my life and I will rise more than someone who is different. At the beginning, it's like someone is making you feel worthless but towards the end, it's saying i'll rise like a skyscraper. After a life full of struggle and mishaps, demi has captured each emotion I felt from the bottomless pit I thought I was in, to me dusting off myself and rising to be more than anyone could imagine and standing tall and strong. I interpret it as an ex lover who has tried to break her down in every way imagineable and she wonders why he has to make her feel like she's broken and empty. She wonders if it makes him happy to watch her bleed out and feel powerless. She takes a stand despite her broken spirit and reminds herself that she is stronger than anything he can do/say/take from her. He can run away after hurting her like a coward but she is going to stay right there and be true to her soul. She knows she is stronger than that and will not succumb to anyone negative in her life. She will rise back up from the ground like a skyscraper, nothing will stop her.

This songs meaning to me is being in a bad relationship. You think your happy even when this other person puts you down, or abuses you. You think your being yourself when your walking on eggshells and making yourself something your not, this song reminds me of taking the journey to step back and relize as a human being that this other person is toxic and abusive. The power of being able to walk through the roughest time and being able to detach yourself from something you have known for a long time and even tho this other person might try and tear you down in the process you rebuild and become yourself again bigger and better, stronger, and smarter. When demi was young people used to make fun of her because she had a weight problem and she started cutting herself and shes explaining how they already took enough of her life and now shes as tall as a skyscraper and wont let anyone put her down by saying some of the lyrics like go run. As a teacher it means the possibility of one more if my students will have a way thru and not suicide as a way out. Skyscraper is a song that everybody can share testimony with. There are so many challenges and struggles that everyone has to overcome in this life. Bullying, school achievement, family expectations, abuse, neglect, guilt for things done and undone, broken hearts, betrayal, self image struggles--these are all things people must overcome. Skyscraper is one of those songs that describes the mentally and heart of those struggles. Such a beautiful song.

I think because she. Showed her vulnerablity, that's what makes her A. Good role model. Id rather my kids be out in the open with who they are then to keep it hidden inside like most do. Because she wasnt ashamed. To say, hey this happened to me and now I'm taking care of it and taking care of myself is courageous amd although I don't agree witg some of her decisions, it still took alot for her to come back standing strong with this song. You have to remember shes. Human too, you know? Even if we are the prettiest, smartest or thinnest girl. We all have our insecurities. This song is really amazing. Demi didn't make a "comeback" she was never gone. She just needed a break to catch herself before she fell too hard. I'm glad she received the help she needed. "Go on and try to tear me down, I will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper". You say and do whatever you want, but you can't break me is basically what she's saying in that line. I love how strong Demi is. All the success she gets, she truly deserves. Unbroken is amazing just like her.

This song actually is for the devil. Because of what she went through, she is basically telling satin that he can't tear her down. When she says "i will be rising from the ground, like a skyscraper" what shereally means is 'I'm with jesus christ and I am gonna be saved and go to heaven' if you really pay attention to the lyrics than you can figure it out. Also, in the music video they show her tatoo and her tatoo says strong and it has a cross on it. It is located where she used to cut herself. I can relate to that song because I've been bullied at school for several years and I suffered very much. This song meaning to me is like what I'm going thru. I had to fight for custody of my two beautiful kids and the father won because he makes more money than me and he can afford to get more than I can. The only thing I had that he could take from me was my kids because I was good faithful wife, a wonderful mother to my kids and I work my butt of so my kids are taken care of. That was the only way he could hurt me was taking everything I have and everything I am. But what he doesn't know is that the bond between mother and child is nothing like father and child. "skyscraper", has such a deep meaning to it. The lyrics, describe what demi went through and how she's overcome them. I never really liked demi, but then again, I thought to meself "what has she done to me? She has never given me any reason to hate her, so why should i", and then after all she's gone through. I've been left speechless. She is now an inspiration to me. I remember that several months before she opened up about her problem, I was going through that phase. Thankfully, her "testimony", if you'd like to say, helped me stop, and realize that I was beautiful. Demi, is my role model, I admire her so much! She's so talented and absolutely beautiful! Me dream is to one day meet her and tell her "thank you, you really changed me life, possibly even saved it... You are beautiful inside out. Please never think any other way and never change, because you are perfect the way you are. " and I would cry and ask her for a hug.

This reminds me of what its like to have bipolar disorder. There are always highs and lows, but you try to hang on to the highs and reduce the lows. Rising like a skyscarper = the highs. Skies are crying/catching teardrops, etc = lows. I love the line "i'm closer to the clouds up here" where she's on a high and can see the hurt that comes with the lows from up there. She's telling herself that she wants to stay up there because it's a "long way down"

See demi and nicki (spaceship song) lyrics actually compliment one another. I guess they became friends in la recently and would watch american idol together. They both have the hots for seacrest or something. Anyway, the aliens in the spaceship kill the devil and send him to hell. Five years ago, I went out with some church guy friends. They were leaders in the church. We decided to drink, and I passed out from it. It turned out that, the guys raped me and took pictures of me naked. When I found out, I kept it a secret. I was ashamed and embarrassed. About a year later, it came out. Everyone found out. It went all over town. The church was only concerned with making sure that I would not press charges because one of the guys came from a rich family. The church told someone that they could fix it like a monetary issue. How much is a virginity worth? Today (5 years later), I am just now starting to truly process & work through the pain. There is so much more that goes into everything that happen, but what it comes down to is that church was my life. My life was shattered before my eyes, and as if that was not enough they kept on kicking me further and further down. I don't know that I will ever be okay, but I am finally standing.

The song isn't about how she had an eating disorder. Its about being strong. And her life was never destroyed. Honestly her eating disorder, depression and bullying made her become who she is today and that is what made her become such a great role model. She can move on past the tough situations. She over came everything and now; look at her shes such a beautiful singer and has so many kids looking up to her. She deserves every minute of her fame. Imagine if more people were able to stay strong like this young woman did. So many suicides would have been prevented. And its all because she had people supporting her all along the way. This song absolutely changed my life. This is the lowest my life has ever been. By grandpa just died of a heart attack, one of my best friends committed suicide, and my best friend tried to. I felt like I had to stay strong for my friends and family but I just couldn't. I got into the habbit of making myself throw up and I cut myself to relieve some of the pain I was in. I have always loved this song but never really payed attention to the lyrics & meaning of it. But now after really listening to the words, I learned that no matter what god puts me through, no matter how much I am hurting, no matter how invisable I feel, I will always rise up, stand tall, & stay strong. Nothing will ever tear me down completely and make me give up.

I think it means that noone can tear you down, you still stand up and fight. And the only person that can really hurt you, is you. People can abuse with either physical violence or just use vicous words. But noone can make you feel you like you want to kill or hurt yourself. Skyscraper means to me well everything I've been bullied I got depression had trouble eating I was always getting sick getting bullied from my friends who said they would be there for me but they ended it with me coz I had problems demi lycis whenever I read it gets me up lifts me off my feet it feels like I'm a skysrcaper cozi fell so hard and I'm just picking myself up now.

I don't believe the song is about a relationship with another person at all. I believe it's about her battle within herself. Bi-polar depression follows her around breaking her down and she fights it with what may be medication and/or therapy. It's her way of saying she'll keep fighting it regardless of how difficult it always be. It's a roller-coaster ride except it never actually ends so you have to keep rising like a skyscraper.

Everyone will at some point meet people who just want to make them feel small broken and fragile, whether they are saying you are too fat, too thin, too tall, too short or if they tell you aren't perfect they are trying to destroy you. They will try to tear you down and try to take away the things that make you unique and special but you can rise above it and stand tall just as demi has done.

I recognize that it's about someone bringing her down and making her feel belittled. She's saying she's fragile, but she has enough will power to rise above.

It means a girl who once had a boyfriend but they broke up and he is trying to get her down and make her upset and hates life but her revenge was in a positive way that she is trying to tell him that every time you tear me down I will grow higher and higher just like a skyscraper and my voice will be loud, so she win later and my point of view that she send a message every teenager or every person in general that never let the sadness win and that's way all our lives will be positive and good somehow.

I always thought that this song was about not letting people bring you down & "rising from the ground" like how it mentions in the song. But then I realized when it says.
"like we never had a chance" that it was probably about one of her past relationships, and how that person probably brought her down. And shes explaining how no matter how much it hurt her & what he did to her in the past, she won't let it bring her down.

This song helped me a lot when I thought I was gonna lose control and explode because of people that didn't see me like I really was. They saw me like they wanted to see me, not who I really was. This just tells you, in some way, others are here to tear you down. They're obstacles in life. If life had no bad things, then it wouldn't be good either. This is my meaning to this song. When I first heard skyscraper. I cried. This song I can totally relate to. I have always been bullied to the point where I started to cut myself. I felt worthless and like nobody wanted me alive. I sang this song at my school talent show. After I sang I said "you can hate me and bully me but i will rise above it,just like a skyscraper. The song reminded me of all the people that would sy such terrible things about demi and were the reason why she went into rehab. The whole "watch me while i bleed" could be her cutting herself and the "go in and try to yet me down" could be all the negative comments. I cry every night and pull myself together enough to deal with the day with no tears. I don't cry in front of anyone anymore because tears show weakness. I think this is one of the best songs ever! Your awsome demi. If I had to make a song about standing strong I would make it a lot like yours. A year ago I was diagnosed wit bypolarity I am 22 years old and my life changed completely. Theres things that I can't control and there was a time I could only think of not being awake I wanted to hide from the feeling by sleeping. I spent over 6 months in bed without talkin. Theres so much I can't remember, but people started taking advantage of my sickness. They wanted to see me down they liked seeing me dead inside. I still have to struggle with what I have with help from doctors. So when I heard this song I cried because no1 really knows how hard it is to fight agains your own head. No1 can feel that pain unless your in that situation and for me my windows are still broken but I learn each day that I'm building little by little a skyscraper that many wont like to look at.

When I listen to this song, it reminds of a time when I was recovering from a harsh break with my best friend(s) because one person tried to destroy me out of jealousy. I was so beaten down and had tried to change myself so much so that others would like me. My true self was nearly completely gone and at the breaking point I could feel god crying because the person he created was broken and on the verge of dissapearing forever. It took the breaking point to realize how much of me was missing, how much of me was still standing, and how much I could still achieve. Great job demi for singing what many of us can't even realize!

I love this song. I think it portrays demi current circumstances very well. I have not gone through very major things, but I have gone through many little things piled up onto each other. I think this song means no matter what you go through, be it a disorder or just some guy making fun of you, you will always be you. All of us can rise above our disorders or problems that all of us have. Whether it be an eating disorder, a self harming problem or depression. There are tons of people out there willing to help. It means that someone has hurt her, they tried to take her down and as she rebuilds herself and takes the people that hurt her out of her life they are watching her go through the pain. Taking down a skyscraper isn't easy so she uses it as an example of what she is. Strong and cannot be taken down easily, and so th people that hurt her run along because now that she is fine they can't hurt her anymore. Not even a fan of most pop music, but I heard this song and fell in love with it! It's so emotional, showing the sensitivity and weakness she feels in the verses. But then the chorus comes back, and it shows the strength and beauty that defines her. I've heard so many really great covers of this song, and each of them takes a slightly different version of it. People can relate to the touching lyrics; everyone has hard things in their lives that make them want to give up. But this is a song about perseverance. Going against what you naturally want to do. And I was devastated when she felt like she was unworthy. She's such a beautiful person and such an amazing person, I'm a lovato through and through. Its a nice sound btw. I think the sound is about a break up, its say that nothing matters now so you can take everything it has nd break everything it is like if its something worthless but although all those things happen it will be rising off the ground like a skyscraper its an inspring sound it can build up people who had a recent break up or lost someone very close to them like a friend, child etc. Nd I could tell you this because I was in a late relationship nd I broke up with my bf because he cheated on me for the 3rd time nd this sound inspired me I now I wont stop loving him but this song inspired me to move on nd leave the past behind me nd I did so I called my ex the other day nd I ask if we could just be friends nd he apoligize nd he accepted dat I wanted to be friends nd now were friends.

Ik that the song is very "insoriational" but the main thing for me is tht demi is (correct me if I'm wrong) fricken rich! I get how it helps people, but she shouldnt be fricken emo. This song saved my life. The first time I heard this song was the day I started college. A small community college is like the 13th grade and the bullying doesn't stop at any age. In ten years, the same people will act the same. My first day of college was pure distress. While my name was called on the role someone said "hoe" very loudly and being in a chemistry class where one teacher teaches, the classes are huge. 200 some odd students looked at me with laughter, disgust, and some pointed me out. I thought highschool ended at graduation but unfortunately it didn't. That day driving home, I decided to end my life until I heard this song. Thanks to demi and her powerful words, I no longer let bullies hurt me.

Demi wrote her song to thank the god that made her alive again after she was sick in rehab for 6 months and she is saying to her haters if they tried to fell her bad or tear her down she will stay strong like a skyscraper, she keep saing I will stay strong if whatever happened to her.

I can completely relate to this. It's horrible when you fall in love with someone, but then they take everything that you have and you feel so broken and fragile. I don't mean sensually, but emotionally. But demi is right, we have to keep rising up and we have to let the person who hurt us go. They will run away, and we have to just remember our own person.

I think this is demi's way of standing up to bullying, and saying that you can take a stand, and stand as tall as a skyscraper. It really has a beautiful meaning, that each and everyone of us can relate to in some way. Demi is saying that no one can't stand in her way, and that it can be the same for us too. In the beginning of the song, she describes bullying, like, "do you have to make me feel like there's nothing left of me? " and it has a sad tone to it. Of course, because bullying is horrible thing, and has killed many people, most in suicide. This song (for me) is about standing up, and being surprised that if you just hold strong, you'll reach the sky, you'll stand up tall enough to scrape the ceiling of the atmosphere. You can try to hurt me, but you won't suceed, because I believe in myself, and I can reach higher limits than the average bully. ? Sophia brousseau, age 13.

It's catchy, but to deep for me. She is not a good role model, she proved she was weak and self conscious, than tried to make it up for writing this song. She was not even close to fat, I totally want to have her shape, yet she still thought she was fat. I know she wasn't skinny as a child, but she still shouldn't be thinking like this. I guess rehab helped her but in the video she looks like a hippy or a mentally insane person.

This song for me means freedom, because for me, my dad has made me feel horrible for my 15 years. I sung this song at my bands first gig and my dad was there, I dedicated this to him and I told everybody in the crowd it was for him, Demi has made an amazing song, but as Kurt Cobain said "no one should be denied the privledge to create and some people most certanly do not need the fear of whether their goods are better or worse than the best or worst."

Demi is amazing in this song and its pretty much saying that say what you want to say but it wouldn't affect her that shes stronger than how strong you though she was. Its saying that shes better that now nothing going to affect her that shes has let them affect her before but now she wouldn't let that happen again. That shes done with peoples stuff that it doesn't even matter to her anymore. You can tell she sang and wrote this song form her own experiences because at this time she was going though some stuff and this song appeared when she got back and shes coming back say that's noting will affect her because shes already let that happened and she almost lost everything and she wouldn't let that happen anymore. I think that the meaning of this song is that weather you are facing bullying like she did, or something entirely different that takes an equally huge emotional toll on you, you are still worth it and can rise to be so much bigger and better than you originally thought you could be if you only take the time to think of yourself as a strong person who is unstoppable. Basically, you can do anything even though other people say you can't. You just have to believe in yourself and bounce back.

I totally understand this song, it says what I am going through.
Many people define this as love but I know exactly what it is.
It made me cry alot.
I'm depressed and yes I do cut myself n she does it 2 but this is an encouraging song 4 me 2 stop I have nver been confronted with my own feelings but this song is what I feel.
There are people bringing me down I cut myself cause of this no one understands me and never will.
Behind my smiling face are hidden scars that are permanent they don't notice it.
I isolate myself I cry in silence my bffl doesn't know.
This song just tells me dat wen they bring me down I will rise above all others like a skyscraper they can everything I have they can tear me down but I will be rising from the ground.

Today I have made the decision to end my son's schooling at our local secondary school due to the nature of his difficulties and the school's inability to deal with them effectively. This song, for me, represents the way school has broken him down, instead of building him up and how he will rise from the ashes of that experience. He is going to "untangle" himself from that negative experience and he will rise, but not as they wish him to (by conforming), but by being the person god made him to be and challenging the system that has tried to bring him down.

Honestly her eating disorder, depression and bullying made her become who she is today and that is what made her become such a great role model. She can move on past the tough situations. She over came everything and now; look at her shes such a beautiful singer and has so many kids looking up to her. She deserves every minute of her fame. Imagine if more people were able to stay strong like this young woman did. So many suicides would have been prevented. And its all because she had people supporting her all along the way. Demi lovato wrote this song because she was getting alot of tweets from haters and she got taken away from her family about two months. When she came back from rehab she started writing songs for her album, on one of her wrist she has a tattoo of a heart and the other one has a tattoo that says "strong"
demi lovato is really strong she came back from rehab even stronger than she already is.

After all she's been through, it's no wonder the poor soul wrote this! The entire song is about not letting anyone, espcially a guy tell you what to do and who to be. Forget popular prissies, in the end after high school they'll be the ones working in Mcdonalds because they spent their entire school exsperience flirting with boys and gossiping. I heard this song one morning when I was at my friends house bout to go to school and I heard the first words and I automatically stopped getting ready 4 school, just stood in the bedroom next to the bathroom I was in and continued to listen to the song and said to my friend at the end "wow didyu hear that song? i love that song now, its my favorit now" and we both laughed cuz we both know I have knew fave song every day. But this is my first long period of time fave song! Love yudemi and yur smile looks like the pink sky when the sun sets.

I love this song it is meaningfuul. To so many people it means the world to know that a star like herself has gone throuh somthing like that. My father and I agured over hannah montana, sutie life of zach and cody and figured it out the parents are dumb. Demi is a lovely singer and everyone shuld know that. I am so glad she is back and that she went to rehab. Everyone says that all diney stars are not good role models I have personal experiance of that but demi is the perfect one she gave up a very good cureer to fix her own promblems that is so alsome for her stay strong!
