Okay, a lot of people are saying this song is about god and god alone. And I can see that point of view. But being saved by someone is an amazing feeling. Being saved by, sure, a boyfriend or girlfriend, for instance. But have you ever felt like you couldn't go on and your mother was there to help you? This isn't about just god. This is about being saved by someone.
To me, this song is about my special someone. When we met, I was in a dark place. Things are still pretty dim. But when I hold his hand, I feel less lost. We guide each other out of our darkness and while alone we're blind, together we can see.
To be saved by someone you love, or are learning to love, is a wonderful thing, and that's what this song means to me.

I had just gotten out of the hospital after visiting my grandfather. I walked out of there feeling scared and alone. I knew he wasnt going to live to see another week. Driving on the highway road home a violent snow storm was upon me. And to make matters worse tears were fogging up my eyes and I could hardly see. I had put this song on a mix cd and it just happened to be playing. I listened to it once. Replayed it and started to sing softly, then replayed it again and belted out my lungs. While screaming out this song I had released a lot of anger, fear, frustration, and a whirlwind of other emotions. After playing this song a few times I knew things were going to be tough but it would all be ok. God had His hands on me that night and guided me home safely. He also showed me that I have been living a life of fear in things that He has under control. That night I learned to just let my problems go for there is so many bigger plans in life for me and that fear is just getting in the way. I love my grandfather and will miss him dearly and I know that il see him again for he was a strong believer. Thank you Father for keeping a watchful eye. I Love You.
