Adele – Set Fire To The Rain lyrics
I let it fall, my heart,
And as it fell, you rose to claim it,
It was dark and I was over,
Until you
kissed my lips and you saved me,
My hands, they're strong, but my knees were far too weak,
To stand
in your arms without falling to your feet,

But there's
a side to you that I never knew, never knew,
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true,
And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win,

But I set fire to
the rain,
Watched it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried,
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name,

When laying with you I could stay there,
Close my eyes, feel you here forever,
You and me together, nothing gets better,

Cause there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew,
All the things you'd say, they were never
true, never true,
And the games you'd play, you would always
win, always win,

But I set fire to the rain,
Watched
it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried,
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain,
And I threw us into the flames,
Well, It felt something died,
'Cause I knew that that was
the last time, the last time.

Sometimes I wake up by the door,
That heart you caught
must be waiting for ya,
Even now when we're already over,
I can't help myself from looking for ya.

I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touch
your face,
Well, it burned while I
cried,
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain,
And I threw us into the flames,
Well, it felt something died,
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, oh,
Oh, no,
Let it burn, oh,
Let it burn,
Let it burn

Sounds like she ran from a relationship where he was trying to control her. Even though she loved him, and she could hold his heart in her hands she couldn't bow to his feet him to give him what he wanted so she made a hard choice to finally leave a man she loved and still loves. She thinks of him often and feels her heart stillbelongs to him but she had to burn the relationship to ensure it ended forever and she wouldn't be tempted to go back to him.

She fell in love with a man, but she soon realized that there were two sides to him. The side that he showed her and the side that truly represented who he was. It was all a lie and it distroyed her once she cought on to his games. And even though he hurt her so much, she still found it difficult to walk away and leave him behind. It was a lesson learned.

I feel that this song is about deciding to end a non-progressive relationship. But since you really love the person so dearly, it's really nearly impossible to "Set Fire To The Rain". But still, you have to and you finally have come to your senses that, "I have to stop and end this sh*t once and for all, so f*ck it.". When you really fell hard on someone, it's really difficult to end the relationship. It's either you take all the shi*t and hurt all throughout the relationship, or just end it once and for all and "Set Fire To The Rain" and take all the final pain and start moving on.

And at times she wanted to leave him but when she saw him she just rain back. But then one day she had the courage to run away while she cried because she kept seeing his face so she threw every memory she had of him away. This song came to me spontaneously as I went through my breakup. Sometimes people can manipulate you into staying or breaking up as they feel. They always win. It means we take them back because we love them a lot. They know that. This madness is addictive and compelling to stay around. Sometimes it's like going for a ride with a bipolar person. This game doesn't work in the long run. Creates instability. Adele is finally walking away for good. And will have a part of her heart which loved that person. Maybe that's one of the truest loves that person will ever know. A powerful message. Beautiful music.

This song means that she gave her heart and soul to a person that she thought did the same to her. But he betrayed that trust and lied and cheated and she was devastated to realize that he could do something so hurtful. Even though she was still in love with him and wanted to be with him she knew she deserved so much more than to allow him to walk all over her and treat her so bad, so instead of laying down and being weak and making excuses for him she found her power and self worth and stood up with courage to end the relationship. Even though it totally broke her heart and it was so hard to let the hopes and dreams she had for them, she let him go because she knew she deserved better no matter what.

As the song starts she is broken but this guy comes in and makes her feel wanted by claiming her heart and kissing her to save her. She mentions being too weak to stand in his arms without falling meaning shes still too broken but she wants to let him in. Then there was a side to this guy that apparently he hid for a while and he played games with her then she decided to get over the pain of him by setting fire to the rain. Rain represents tears which means pain and she is burning the pain and memories of him. Then apparently he has a new gf and even though they arent together anymore she still looks for him and that's about what I think this song means although I could be wrong.

The meaning to this song is about this girl who fell deeply in love with this guy when she was feeling unstable in her life, only to find out that the guys that she was in love with was a liar and was fake and a cheater. So the girl decides to "set fire to the rain" and gives the guys a taste of his own medicine (leaving the guy.)

What I think the meaning is to this song is that a couple was in an abusive relationship where the guy would cheat on the girl but the girl would always stay with him no matter what cause he would always say sorry and I love you. And it got to the point where the girl was over it; was done being treated this way so she went to his house, told him how she felt, and then burned the house down with him inside. But all thru that she still loved him.

This song actually have deep feelings in her lyrics. I think this song touch many people hearts who is either lonely or heart broken by someone whom they loved. It seems that the person who she loved her but then she realized that the things he said wasn't manful anymore after what she saw of him. So she just gave up on him. Adele is a truthful singer and lyrics touches everyone and it seems that she is a sad singer from what her lyrics say. And if this is really how she feels then who ever hurt her need to full fill her but i

I was married to a man for 17 years who I thought I knew. But, he was full of mind games, his games always won. He lied to me many times, yet today when it's all over and done. I still miss the times we had together. And it's hard. I set fire to the rain and ended our 17 years of marriage when I found out he had sexually abused our daughter. I thought I knew him! So this song has tons of meaning for me.

"Set fire to the rain" is the contradiction of a relationship addiction that you can never have, never trust, never know, nor can you ever leave it. You try to burn it away, leave it, let it die, but rather you burn for it and cool and burn and cool and burn and turn away and turn back. And you burn and you burn and you burn. "Even now when we're already over i can't help myself from looking for ya". "that heart you caught must be waiting for ya". Even feeling it died it is never the last time. There are repetative last times and it burns and it burns I know, I'm there. Coloradowildlifer.

Starting at the beginning, I think the song is saying that she was brokenhearted from a previous relationship and had given up hope and was in a dark and dismal state - emotionally (she let her heart fall and it was all dark). Her hand are strong, meaning she is a strong woman who is in a vulnerable place because she was hurt. Then this new guy comes along and picks her up, he makes her weak in the knees (probably said and did all the right things to comfort her and make her feel special, at first). She felt alive again. But she 'never knew' what he was really like, his words turned out to be lies (basically this new guy took advantage of a hurt and vulnerable woman who she thought would take care of her heart). The rain represents "life" - it is life-giving, but it also represents "tears. " when she realizes that he lied, she sets fire to the rain. Fire is "destructive" - it kills and it burns. That's why she says "watched it pour as i touched your face" -- her tears were flowing and "it burned while i cried" -- she ended the new relationship and the touching of the man's face is an expression of the love and tenderness she felt for him. Throwing us into the fire - represents the termination of the relationship. It is an empowering song because the woman (although she had fallen in love with this man) knows now he is a liar, things he said and did were untrue, etc and she does what's best for herself and her emotional health and well-being. It's a great song!

Smart girls know better than to fall in love, but even a smart girl wants to fall in love and they do, eventually they see the man for what he really is and will now unleash enough destruction on him and them that will over take rain with fire (hell's fury), god help the poor lying cheating, b*****d. Hope there is a permanent curse on his junk. :) have a nice day.

In this song adele used an idiomitic expression "set fire to the rain" which means to set passion or love out of loneliness. When I heard this song I thought that the meaninng is that the girl is simply hoping to be loved by the man she loved, but as I run through the lyrics. I found out that shes not just hoping but she is actually begging to be loved and the man she loved was just actually fooling her. Making the girl fall in love purposely just to use her. It was really painful for the girl coz she was in the depth of devastation in life when she met the guy. She thought that guy was her savouir but turned out to be a whole opposite. A very painful song.

She loved a man whom not loved her back. As her tears pour down her face she knew it was the last time. She had to move on no more forgiving this time it was all about her. Anyday she would bow down to her lover give him all his wants and needs, sometimes love is blind and you can't see the bad side of the person you believe to be your soul-mate or lover. Just because people can't be together because it's not healthy does not mean they still don't love eachother.

This song touches my soul. After a horrible relationship ended, my best friend and so-called soulmate made me believe again - only to find that he was the worse kind of liar. And because when it was good it was amazing - I still think of him and miss him on levels that my heart can't let go of. But thankfully, my mind was strong enough to break free of. Sometimes we have to just set a relationship on fire and let it burn.

The beautifully crafted lyrics in this song point to a deeper meaning, far beyond what many expect from a song that has this high a popularity rate in our shallow, unthinking culture. This is only my take on it: her lost love was once filled with passion and intensity but she didn't know at the time that the only source was her. When the truth broke out and not only had her mind seen it but also her heart realized it, the once burning passion dissipated and had no where to go but into the emptiness of her soul.

This song is about adele getting heart broken. Since the person she fell in love with broke her heart she expresses it through the song. She explains how much she loved that special someone but, then that person broke her heart. She then gets over it and says that she still cares but doesn't feel the same way she did before. She let go of them and has moved, but at the same time misses him because he basically played with her heart and now has left her.

I think her heart-felt lyrics depict a woman who is mourning the loss of a relationship with a man whom she loved deeply, but who was not what she thought and hoped he was. In a moment of weakness, she fell in love and trusted him and attached strongly. When she started realizing that he was not all that she hoped--he was perhaps emotionally unavailable. Maybe a smooth-talking player who took advantage of her weakness, she was heart-broken. The dream of the potential relationship and her hopes that he could meet her needs kept her hanging on until the last time she's with him. When she could not play into his game anymore. She finally is true to herself and leaves him, setting fire to the rain. Meaning she uses her anger and passion to be strong and true to herself, and the rain--her tears of pain and disappointment--keeps burning as she lets go of her attachment, her hopes, her dream. But not all the way, because her heart strings really don't want to let go, as she painfully still catches herself wanting him to come rescue her, looking for him in moments of weakness. That's my take. Based on my own personal experience I'm actually going through right now.

This girl was weak from maybe a pst relationship and she was open and ready to any thing to anybody that would take her heart she met a dude at first she though he was prince charming but she found out about his other side and she didn't want to let him go but she knew she had to because it wasnt worth her time, at time she reminisces over the ended realtionship but she reminds herself the "rain" he caused her and that's why she set fire to it, thus "set fire to the rain"

Set fire to the rain is about a woman who's heart has been broken before. She thinks she can now see a good man when she finds one and is now falling for the exact same type she did in her last relationship.
In the first verse, she reminiscies about how broken she was and how complete she felt when she was with her new man. But in the bridge between the verse and chorus, you hear she knows there are twofaces to her beloved. But she is still unsure.
Then, the chorus comes crashing down and her realisation of what he is, is clear. She knows there is no hope in what she has found and she must end what was so dear to her.
Example: "what i thought was rain... Really was acid, and if i were to light a match, the rain would light into flames. You are the acid, cascading down my lips. "

Set fire to the rain means the rain was blurring her vision so she set fire to it and when she looked at the man who picked her up after having her heart broken from someone else she realized that he manipulated her into thinking he was something else, someone else. She loved who she thought he was and she will still long for that guy but no who is really is. Set fire to the rain is analogy for seeing through the smoke.

She and her boyfriend had a happy relationship, or so it seemed. But then behind the scenes he started treating her like trash-one minute he loved her, the next she was garbage. The rain represents her tears, and I think the fire means she stopped her crying and destroyed him on the inside, worse than anything he had ever done to her. And by "the last time", she means that he would never hurt her again, that their relationship was over, which is probably what she means by the statement "it burned". The whole acts between them broke them apart, and burned everything to ashes.
I've never had a boyfriend in my entire life and this speaks to me.

Set fire to the rain, as in she ended it, and while it burns both of them, it is for the best, since they were not really compatible. The rain referring to the relationship, fire is the disturbance in the relationship which cause it to be unstable. Or the rain could be the tears she's crying, and her setting fire to it, meaning once the fire is out, it is done, you rise from the ashes. Hear it screaming your name because in the mourning time, you still long for that person, but you know it is not healthy because of all the games they play, which they would always win, because it is their game.

What's so ironic is that I know that the song is "set fire to the rain" but the more I listen it seems as if she set fire to his reign over her. The power he had over her with his smooth and convincing lie sand then turn around and say verbally abusive things. But in their quiet time, when everyone is beautiful while sleeping it seems perfect. Although she knows he's controlling her she couldn't stop loving him, but she let it go finally. Awesome lyrics. It screams snow white with prince charming, but he turns out not to be the prince she expected.

This is a beautiful song and there are so meaning you can get from this song. I believe this is a song that every woman should listen to. It is very touching and very true. I believe it is about a guy who lied and cheated and beat a girl. And she was still pulled into the fire every time because he had a way with his words and actions towards her. But she loved who he use to be and it's not there anymore. And then she finally left tired of the lying, beating, and cheating. That's my opinion.

Adele, I don't like you. Your songs make no sense to me, and in some songs you just sound bad, like in "Someone Like You, or "Chasing Pavement" Also, you don't have the expected music videos. So why have I been clicking replay on this song on YouTube, over and over again?
It's because you give such meaning to your songs, and only you can bring us into the song, like when someone cries at a good movie. Many people search and find songs that fit their situation, but what I love about you is that you've. Ok, I'm done ranting on about this. Just saying, this song (and rolling in the deep) is awesome!

I think this song is about a girl who was not planing on falling in love but in turn she did and probably really wanted to leave the relationship and then he stops her by making her realize he really loves her, and then she let herself fall for him completely and he 2 timed on her and she finally ended it, and the setting fire to the rain represents her ending what they had- rain was their relationship and fire was the termination of it.
And that is what I think this song represents :)
    Don't judge me!

It is like casting love memories into a firing rain and feel the pain. A love lost but more from one side only, because for some is just a game and the one who loves more usually ends with pain. As rain can not be inflamed so is the love that is not equalled and chasing it will only be in vain. Some people spend their lives to find "another you".

Okay this one means that you set fire to rain or water with oil. Another oil explosion happens in the gulf, but this time oil shoots out from the ocean into the sky. When the oil is in the sky a crazy sniper decides to shoot the oil and boom you have raining fire. Kids, jusy ask your science teacher about this. Your teacher is no fool and neither is adele. Gotta go get some ice cream and cry now.

There's always going to be certain people who brings out the best in you, but they also get the best of you. And even when things are at an obvious break or standstill, you won't let yourself believe it because you're just too into them to let them go. But you need to, for you are doing them a disservice keeping a being beside you who doesn't fully-without-a-doubt want to be.

To me, I think that this song is about the agony a girl will feel when the bf is leaving her for someone else. You feel so upset inside because you still love him. You want him to come back to you. However, at the same time, you hate him for cheating on you. At this point of time, you just want to set fire to the two of you and burn each other up!

I think for me it means a few things 1 it means you are searching for that right love of a lifetime. 2 someone to be there for only you. And 3 someone you fell deeply in love with that you wanted to love you the same way and led you to believe that was what was happening between you but it turned out too be all lies. Well that's what I felt from it because I am going through the same thing.
