Now that that’s out of the way... this song saved my life. I’ve been in the exact situation...

I think it’s about being in love with a toxic person. But not surface flowers and hearts love. The type of love that you’d give up every possession and even your own happiness for.

He keeps saying it’s better off this way , but as with me it’s not to convince others , how can you when you barely convince yourself?

“Make no mistakes I can’t kill the pain”

Meaning you’ve tried everything , drinking, pointless flings, fighting, screaming and crying while you’re driving, the gym , sitting on a beach alone listening to the waves... nothing works.

It’s almost like he’s pleading with her and with himself.

If you’ve never loved someone and thought you couldn’t survive without them, I’m sorry to say you’ve never been in love.

You can’t erase what happened no matter what happens, even if you want to escape, even if you hate yourself or the other person despite all the love you think you have yourself and them.

Lastly we don’t work and I don’t want to hurt... but just like the song doesn’t confirm, even if it doesn’t work, even if it hurts... you’ll always feel something for that person. You’ll always hurt.

I almost ended it. Many times but one day it stopped hurting so much. Then I got help got my life together and I have a great career, wife and two kids! Life goes on everyone!
