For me, this song tells a story of dysphoria and lonelyness. The need to be protected of the happenings of life, maybe of the people. To bild walls, so we can't get hurt, even if it means isolation. A desire to find where we belong, whereever that may be."Wear clothes made of old socks
Which are missing their pairs" - for me this continues the theme of lonelyness, but brings in a spec of hope that even old socks, without their pairs, can be used for something meaningful. Furthermore a frequent line in this song, also the title:"I wanna be ten feet tall" creates opposition with the line:"I'm so dang tall and growing still", in my opinion it may mean that the teller may want to be isolated and scare people away, they know deep down in their heart, that it is not healthy, and may want to go back.
I somehow feel drawn to this song and I can't yet figure out why.

This song, at least to me, feels as if it’s about anxiety/depression induced anger. Sometimes even if you’re the biggest pacifist in the world you get these intense feelings of anger. You get so angry with every single thing in the world that you just want to be this big monster that destroys things. However, deep down you hate that you’re like this, you’d rather be with animals or do something nice. This all can stem from feeling so alone. You want a place to feel welcome and comfortable. Sometimes you feel just so awful that you don’t belong anywhere. It’s a beautiful way to capture this feeling.
