Songwriter Aoife O'Donovan seems to be imagining a lover dying and trying to comfort her beloved with feelings of peace and hopefulness. The mood of the song is full of tenderness and longing and even though the separation seems to be an eternity, this too shall pass. Alison's sweet melodic voice makes this song come alive with sadness and bittersweet love. Listen to this song and listen to her "My Love Follows You Where You Go". Both songs speak of a lost, or soon to be lost, love. And although there is a deep sadness and longing expressed in the lyrics and melodies, there's is an unmistakable sense that love will conquer even death. Oh to be loved thusly!
