Aretha Franklin – Respect lyrics
(oo) What you want
(oo) Baby, I got it
(oo) What you need
(oo) Do you know I got it
(oo) All I'm askin'
(oo) Is for a little respect when you come home (just a little bit)

Hey baby (just a little bitno) when you get home
(just a little bit) mister (just a little bit)

I ain't gonna do you wrong while you're gone
Ain't gonna do you wrong (oo) 'cause I don't wanna (oo)
All I'm askin' (oo)
Is for a little respect when you come home (just a little bit)
Hey Baby (just a little bit) when you get home (just a little bit)
Yeah (just a little bit)

I'm about to give you all of my money
And all I'm askin' in return, honey
Is to give me my propers
When you get home (just a, just a, just a, just a)
Yeah baby (just a, just a, just a, just a)
When you get home (just a little bit)
Yeah (just a little bit)

------ instrumental break ------

Ooo, your kisses (oo)
Sweeter than honey (oo)
And guess what? (oo)
So is my money (oo)
All I want you to do (oo) for me
Is give it to me when you get home (re, re, re, re)
Yeah baby (re, re, re, re)
Whip it to me (respect, just a little bit)
When you get home, now (just a little bit)

Are-E-S-P-E-C-T
Find out what it means to me
Are-E-S-P-E-C-T
Take care, tcb

Oh (sock it to me, sock it to me,
Sock it to me, sock it to me)
A little respect (sock it to me, sock it to me,
Sock it to me, sock it to me)
Whoa, babe (just a little bit)
A little respect (just a little bit)
I get tired (just a little bit)
Keep on tryin' (just a little bit)
You're runnin' out of foolin' (just a little bit)
And I ain't lyin' (just a little bit)
(re, re, re, re) 'spect
When you come home (re, re, re, re)
Or you might walk in (respect, just a little bit)
And find out I'm gone (just a little bit)
I got to have (just a little bit)
A little respect (just a little bit)

When I first heard this song it had a huge impact on me. I was in the middle of an abusive relationship with my cat, and it made me realise what respect really was. I wasnt getting the respect I needed from Derek. It had to stop. We went through counselling for several months, but unfortunately, it was not successful. One night, when listening to this song, it all got too much. I was sitting there, tired from making Derek a 3 course meal, when I thought: "this cannot go on". So I got up and left. I have finally managed to remake my life, but the fact that I had the courage to leave was entirely due to this song.
Thank you, Aretha Franklin, thank you.

Oh yes, and I have read about cats too! I live in the west of england actually. I'm sure we could catch a train and meet in the middle? I would drive but unfortunately margret ate my car when I left her. We could discuss this "chatline" of ours, and of course how we feel about the animals now. What happened to us was truly unaceptable and I believe we should get some kind of compensation for it. I have to say I can not go anywhere near rivers anymore as I'm scared I may see one of Margories relatives. Please get back to me about this. Hope to see you soon. Thank you Margorie, thank you.

My word, the same thing happened to me but with my pet tuna fish! I couldn't believe it at first when my dear old margret was attacking me. Well i'll try not to go into much detail, but I can you this. It was the most traumatic time of my life! I felt like everything I had done, I was not getting the respect I truly diserved! Then, while driving in the car, with margret in the back this song came on, I finally relised I needed more respect in my tiresome life. One day it all go to much, I couldn't stand because my leg hurt so much from where margret had mistook it for a bone (you may wonder my she wanted a bone but margret believes shes a dog), then I thought "I don't deserve this!" and got up and left. As you margorie, I found remaking my life very hard, but I've got through and I can finally say I'm there. I too thank you, Aretha Franklin, thank you.

Ah ha! And yet another victim of this unbelieveable suffering! Don't worry, dog-lover. What is your name if I may ask? I can tell you how much me and margorie understand. Yes I think it would be a great idea that we all met up. Would you like to be invovled in this chat line? I would love I hear your ideas on it. And how tramatic this time was for you. Just to let we are always here to talk, we've all been through the same thing. Maybe we could get some anwers for this animal cruelty towards that humans. Please may I mangle your brains and get some views out? Nice to hear from you.
Thank you dog lover, thank you.

I can imagine how a tuna fish could cuase problems, I have read many studies stating how controlling and posessive they can be. Where do you live exactly? I am in the north west in England, is that near you? I truly hope so, it would truly enrich my life to meet someone who came to the same fate as me regarding our animals. And yes I agree, a chat line would be a great idea!
Thank you, Father Ted, thank you.

Oh that would be lovely! I went through the same thing, know one understood how a tuna fish could be a very lethal animal. Prehaps they should invent a new chat line called "animal abuse, for humans" maybe this could be something we can invest in together? A drink sounds like a lovely idea! I too would like to probe your brain. Yes, years and years of abuse must of had a impact some how. Don't worry Margorie, I understand how heart broken you are. Thank you Margorie, thank you.

Gosh father Ted, it's amazing to finally meet someone in the same situation to me. I called helplines for animal abuse but no-one seemed to understand it was the animal that was abusing me. Perhaps we could meet and go for a drink sometime? I would love to ask you some questions and really probe what's going on it that mind of yours. Decades of abuse must have affected us in some way? Thank you, margorie, thank you. And don't worry, I feel your pain.
