This song isn't about her significant other… it isn't romantic in the slightest way. Quite sad actually. It's about her being utterly in love with someone, even though she knows that he'll never reciprocate the same feelings for her, or maybe he does, but she'll never know because we won't act upon her feelings because she can't even muster up the courage to talk to him, so she's content with watching him from a distance.

She knows that she shouldn't care this much about him, but when they have any sort of interaction, she can't help herself and just loses all control and falls in love all over again but then she is brought back to reality. When she says, 'pull me out in time. Don't let me drown. Let me down.

For now, she's content with watching him from a distance until one of them act upon their feeling, and that most likely won't be her. There's an easy solution to this situation; she can just tell him how she feels, but as I know, when you're head in heels for someone, you don't even know where to begin so you just wait. Not acting on your feelings is somewhat bittersweet; you'll never know what perhaps could've been and you know that's better than telling them because that way, you won't know, they'll never the option of telling you no, there will never be that rejection, so the only thing that keeps you going is the possibility of something.
