Birdy – People Help The People lyrics
God knows what is hiding in that weak and drunken heart
I guess you kissed the girls and made them cry
those Hardfaced Queens of misadventure
God knows what is hiding in those weak and sunken eyes
a Fiery throng of muted angels
Giving love and getting nothing back

People help the people
And if your homesick, give me your hand and i'll hold it
People help the people
And nothing will drag you down

Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain
i'd be cold as a stone and rich as the fool
That turned, all those good hearts away

God knows what is hiding, in that world of little consequence
Behind the tears, inside the lies
A thousand slowly dying sunsets
God knows what is hiding in those weak and drunken hearts
I guess the loneliness came knocking
No on needs to be alone, oh save me

People help the people
And if your homesick, give me your hand and i'll hold it
People help the people
Nothing will drag you down
Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain
I'd be cold as a stone and rich as the fool
That turned, all those good hearts away

People help the people
And if your homesick, give me your hand and I'll hold it
People help the people
Nothing will drag you down
Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain
I'd be cold as a stone and rich as the fool
That turned, all those good hearts away

I think it is about it dosen't matter who you are. You can tell who someone is by there appearance and you cannot see how they feel. It shouldn't matter who they are you should help somone who is struggling. It is basically a way of saying equality matters and people struggle. I'm 13 and I have been diagnosed with depression. And right now I'm wearing my hair in pigtails and wearing my reindeer onesies, if a stranger saw me now they would think I was happy and have the heart of a five year old. But I just spent the last hour crying. So I guess it's about people helping others no matter who they are getting out of labyrinth. Just my assumption!

These interpretations are good but it goes bigger than just "not judging someone" it's about helping out where you can. It's about not only being out for yourself but trying to make things better for everyone. "Oh and if I had a brain, I'd be cold as a stone and rich as the fool who cast all those good hearts away". This means the "smart" choice would be to look out for yourself equaling money and power, but also loneliness like a Scrooge! You have no real friend or people to care for you but you would be rich! Everyone is struggling "God knows what is hiding in those weak and sunken eyes.
A Fiery throng of muted angels Giving love and getting nothing back... A thousand dying sunsets" The struggles and misery literally kill the light inside but if we come together and support each other and help each other, then we can mend the broken peices because only god knows the pains we face and the hearts we have inside. People help the people!

It's about not judging people before you know them. That person may be crying because they have just lost a relative. That guy may be sleeping in doorways because no one was there to help him. This song is all about not judging a book by its cover. Just because we don't know somebody, it doesn't mean we can't help them. We are all human beings and should be there for each other, no matter who, when or where.

It’s an anthem to Socialism. Help people out even if you get nothing in return. It was written (and originally performed) by Simon Aldred as Cherry Ghost. He’s an incredible writer and singer too.
The line “oh and if I had a brain...” refers to what the ‘smart’ choice would be in our society. It’s easier to look after number one and your immediate family than to view society as part of everyone’s life and that we are all connected.

The song is a support to people, standing in the light, knowing that love is the only way, and giving them hope in the fact that they are all connected and on the right road to a better world. Though this road goes along people still standing in the dark, not understanding those who only give. They take what they can to give excistance to themselves, but that's all about the outside, form, and materialistic values with which they identify themselves. They take the love of those standing in the light, but not understanding it, and it will never be enough. But who they are from their insides they are not aware, they don't know themselves. People in the light are on the road to knowing who they are, leaving what they are (rich, powerful, s***, etc.) more and more behind. The part 'if I had a brain, I'd be cold as a stone and rich as a fool, that turned all those good hearts away', tells about living out of your head instead of your heart. The head or brains have the function to survive and acts out of fear, whereas the heart is brave and acts out of love. The head tells you to be selfish because it is better in a materialistic way (to be cold), and is in fact a fool where it gets rich in a materialistic way because all those things never will be the same as real human attention.
So yes, help the people, we should all help each other, because if we do so, nobody will be lost. Heaven is on earth when we start to see it, and we are all connected in the divine. This is really a very beautiful and powerful song about the new world we are getting in. I hope it inspires a lot of people to continue the good road they are following.

People help the people by Birdy - challenges the stereotype that an individual does not have to feel fine within themself to help another. That one does not simply feel happy, once feeling the need to be there for another person. Judges the stereotype that not everyone is happy. It in this case, erases stereotypes in a way that we are all equal, and it shouldnt matter who we help, but as long as we do. That although we all are different or dress differently, we all feel emotion, fear, distress and euphoria. We should be able to rely on eachother for help. Whether or not we are rich or poor, dark or white, skinny, or obese. What does that even mean anyway, "fat" its our thoughts that are fat not the individual. S*w society and the way it has maniupulated and miscontrued the meaning of life. The ideology that one lives to simply do what they enjoy because they can, spend time with those that they treasure, and do whatever it is that they please. To love. It is very common for one our ages, to experience a time when we can't see a light at the end of the tunnel, or struggle to find inner happiness. Almost as if everything suddenly just deteriorates. But we should know that we are all the same. Each of us struggles the same way. We all feel it. Our neighbour, the blind one. May be our strongest rock.
