Brad Paisley – Whiskey Lullaby lyrics
She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night

1st Chorus
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

La la la la la la la... La la la la la la laaaa...
La la la la la la la... La la la la la la laaaa...

The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

2nd Chorus
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

La la la la la la la... La la la la la la laaaa...
La la la la la la la... La la la la la la laaaa...
La la la la la la la... La la la la la la laaaa...
La la la la la la la... La la la la la la laaaa...

I may be young and I probably have never felt true love, but when I listen to this song I can't help but feel what they felt. This song is about a man and women who were mad in love but then the women makes one small mistake and the man is heart broken, he wants to forget and trys but just can't to after drinking bottle after bottle of whiskey, he gives up and kills himself. Thw women finds out and gets realy depresed and ealizes that her mistake will hunt her doun and there was no stoping it, she (like the man) gets drunk off of whiskey and kills herself. In the end they are buried together under a willow tree. My advice is simple, a disition may seem small at the time but it can grow into something elts and have a greater impact then you thought so be carful out there.

My dad use to sing this to me before my mom left us and now he drinks and sleeps. It's been a long time and he's gotten better but I know he's putting on his pretty face for me. He just got the news that my mom died from a car accident and he's devistated. He really loved my mom. This song reminds me of the times when my mom and my dad coming into my bedroom to tuck me in and my dad would sing me to sleep with the song. I miss those days.

I love this song. It reminds my of why I still have my girl. Emokid drew, I know how you feel. I went down that same road. Trust me when I say this, drinking will never solve your heartache. I have wrote a song called deatth by heartache, and it talks about a man that got his heart torn apart by the one he loves and he's slowly dieing of the pain. I've been there. I've seen what it was like to die. And I'm glad that someone came into my life and helped me deal with it all. Take care to all those who have herd this song. Its a great song.

I can relate to this song. My girl left me about a year ago. She cheated on me with a guy I have known for almost ten years! And I just tried to drink it all a way. A week after it happend I woke up with an emptey Bottle of whiskey and a pistol with one in the chamber. I had almost killed my self that night. But sence then I have meet someone who put all the peices back together and I smile every time I hear her soft beautiful voice. So when you feel like giveing up don't! Their are brighter days ahead!

You know I have someone who was once very special in my life and is no an alcholic. It has cut our relationship down strongly and their is no stronger relationship than that of a mother and a dughter. I wont stope believeing one day she will come to her sense and realize what she has done and what I have allowed her to do. Good song, altho it does make me cry.

My name is Amanda and this was my daughter Janet Lea York favorite song. Janet was killed on September 19, 2009. Janet was only 13 years old. I go to Janet and play this song for her. On May 14, 2010 we were going to meet with the District Attorney concerning Janet, when I got in the van, I turned on the ignition and the song "Whiskey Lullaby" was playing. I felt Janet was sending me a sign and I will never forget that day.

Such a incredible sad song. I think that true meaning of this song, is about teaching us a lesson about not cheating on our partners, cause it can lead them to suffer and trouble. This song was about a man that was in a army, that went to war, and when he came back. He caught his wife with another man and realized that she was cheating. They were both hart broken. The wife was blaming her self. This song gave me a lesson! Where ever your partner go's or do. Never cheat on your partner. Until they broke up with you.

As I listen to this song thoughts come through my mind as if I was that artist who wrote these lyrics. This beautiful piece of work has ten times the meaning of any other song that I heard before. I'm not a big country fan but when my cousin showed me the video to this song I was mystified. You don't need to be a genius to understand the lyrics to this song basically he got cheated on couldn't stand it, turned to alcohol as a way to resolve his problem and then killed himself. I know this sounds depressing, but they way Brad Paisley put the words together was brilliant. In the end the women who cheated on him had so much guilt she then killed herself. I agree with the comment from Gator_mcklusky about how this song is so relatable to How the Red Fern Grows. Woo Hoo Lee!

Whiskey can't heal a broken heart, only love can. When you find true love, don't let a mistake take it from you. Don't ever let it go, you don't know what you've got until it's gone. So hold on. Don't ever give up on the one you love. Don't ever give up on yourself. Don't ever give up on love. True love can withstand anything. True love is the strongest force in the world.
