Okay so here's my take on this. Now. the main theme, obviously, is forbidden love. More specifically, a forbidden kiss which is evidently highlighted in the part 'Your lips, My lips.... Apocalypse'. However, the backstory is much more profound. The lyrics revolve around childhood lovers who have been kept apart due to tragic circumstances. Probably, the girl's mother died when she was young and her father married the boy's mother which is highlighted here, 'Sleeping soundly with the locket that she gave you clutched in your fist'. Deriving from this, is the unseen distance set between them as they became step-siblings, 'Sharing all your secrets with each other since you were kids'. The girl here, has her own uncertainties. She has not been one to go against the rules and is terrified of the possible outcomes of expressing her most intimate feelings. She feels comfortable keeping things as they are. 'You've been locked in here forever and you just can't say goodbye'. The girl's feelings here have been collated with a piano. As of present, she has hid her feelings from the outside world 'You’ve been hiding them in hollowed out pianos left in the dark' probably due to some inter-relation with her mother, 'Kisses on the foreheads of the lovers wrapped in your arms'. The boy is not unfamiliar to her feelings and the lines 'Got the music in you baby' along with 'I know you want me' shows that he is able to see through her made-up exterior. He is trying to persuade her to open up about their feelings along with a paradoxical phrase 'haunt me' which portrays that even death will not prove sufficient to yield an end to their suffering.The opening of the song tells us about the destructive state of the secret.
'You leapt from crumbling bridges watching cityscapes turn to dust' interprets that the girl has expelled her secret resulting in chaotic reactions. 'Filming helicopters crashing' refers to the disagreement within their akin.In the outro, the boy is promising and reassuring her that he will stay by her side and they will get through the obstacles hand-in-hand.,

To me this song is about your relationship coming to an end and your not ready to let go. The person narrating is still trying to give it another chance. But as said In the song “your lips my lips apocalypse” meaning they are just so beautifully wrong for each other

to me it seems to be about a man being in love with this woman but she’s married and he is trying to let her know but he can’t “you’ve been locked in here forever, and I just can’t say goodbye” he always loved her and when she got cuffed he fell into this deep depressive matter trying to get her to notice him. “sharing secrets with each other since you were kids” always had a jealousy for the girl and whoever she loved.

Anyone else think this is Lucifer singing to God, Jesus and the world in general at points and the love is so sincere that one could stop looking at it as good vs. evil and just know that it is what a product of love and over time wars, having to take losses, see his holy father's son die on the cross "with the locket that she gave you clutched in your fist" knowing that this is still based on love and that this is all heavy examples of the suffering, joy, reflection, devastation, spiritual growth and never ending duality of love itself.
