Conjure One – Center Of The Sun lyrics
Young girl in the market
Music to the men
When the men leave
Her eyes are red
When her eyes are closed again she sees the dark market of a violin

And she sings
'They say the most horrible things
But I hear violins, when I close my eyes
I am at the center of the sun
And I cannot be hurt
By anything this wicked world has done'

Young boy in the market
Follows all the men
When the men leave
He's out of his head
When his eyes are closed again he sees the dark market of a violin

And he sings
'They break the most beautiful things
But I hear violins, when I close my eyes
I am at the center of the sun
And I cannot be hurt
By anything this wicked world has done
I look into your eyes
And I am at the center of the sun
And I cannot be hurt
By anything this wicked world has done'

Center of the sun

Young boy in the market
Sees the girl alone
And asks her
'Have you lost your way home?'
She sings
'You say the most beautiful things, just like my violins'

I look into your eyes
I am at the center of the sun
And I cannot be hurt
By anything this wicked world has done

When I close my eyes
I am at the center of the sun
And I cannot be hurt
By anything this wicked world has done

'Cause
I hear violins
I hear violins

I hear violins
I hear violins

Center of the sun

I hear... violins

I believe this song chronicles the story of a prostitute in a suppressed culture. She is young and lifts her spirits by disassociation. She is able to do this by imagining when the evil men speak, she hears beautiful violins. It warms her soul and she is surrounded by the light of the sun (being in the center of the sun). She then meets a boy who sees the atrocities occurring and he too shares the dissociative tendencies. He also changes the things he sees and hears to something beautiful when he closes his eyes. At the end of the song the two meet and together they fall in love and he rescues her from her fate. When she looks into his eyes she "hear(s) violins" and once again she is surrounded by something palpable and real and no longer does she have to imagine the beautiful world she sees before her.
Loved the song and could really picture this in a la femme nakita soundtrack or the like!

It seems that a potential meaning of this song is of a young girl who feels like the only reason that men look at her for is to leer at her beauty and desire her like a dog desires a piece of meat. She is music, could mean the fulfilment of their mental debauchery. She can hear their awful words of vile and defiled thoughts. They do not care for as a person, valuing her intellect, character, personhood, etc. , they are selfish in their desire. Her eyes are red because of crying of sadness. She could possibly be a prostitute and when they sexually violate her she closes her eyes and goes to another world of beautiful things, ignoring the vile act. I imagine these men are supposed respected men. , but no man should be totally respected. The same for the boy when he enters the market, maybe he is a male prostitute or picl pocket thief. But, his statement of breaking the most beautiful things, could mean the breaking of beuatiful young innocent lives. When the girl and the boy meet though thay are at the center of the sun because they realize they understand each other and value each other for who one another is and not just a tool, piece of meat or toy. The violins could be the beginning of their affinity for one another. These thoughts are just my thoughts, nothing else. Take them for what they are worth.

I purchased this because it's a remarkable music arrangement together with Poe's voice. But I'm disappointed that I get the visual image each time I hear it of the tragic circumstances of the young boy and girl if only it had different lyrics, more in keeping with the Transendent reference to Sounds of Violins and Center of the Sun.
