Emily was such a sweet, kind and loving girl. And yet her heart stopped beating and she still kept believing in love. It is her song because she wants to be loved, but in trying to be loved. Someone purposely took her life so she couldn't be loved. And that irony is filled in her part in the song. And it is a beautiful piece only Danny Elfman could have written.

When Emily says "But the pain here that I feel Try and tell me it's not real", she is basically explaining that she loves him. Since she was killed because she thought she loved someone who didn't love her back, she has been wanting to be loved. Emily explains this very well, and I think that it's a very sad but cute song. Looking at another song in the movie, when she gets mad at Victor, he starts to play the piano, and then the Piano Duet, that starts with the notes of "If I touch a burning candle I can feel no pain If you cut me with a knife It's still the same And I know her heart is beating And I know that I am dead But the pain here that I feel Try and tell me it's not real And it seems that I still have a tear to shed", comes into the movie. During this duet, her hand comes off of her arm because of her "enthusiasm". When she says "pardon my enthusiasm" right after, Victor says "Oh, I like your enthusiasm" or something like that. Later in the movie, Victor decides to marry Emily, and even though she loves him, she decides to let Victoria have him because she's alive. This part also goes with this song because Emily knows that she can't have him because of him being alive. She gives up her happiness for Victoria because she wants Victor to be happy.

The meaning behind this song is that Emily the sweet corpse bride is feeling pain regardless of her physical condition. She still feels everything and she can literally feel her heart breaking. Physical vs mental health. So much bittersweet love and rejection in this song. Its really quite sad. I'm sure lots of people can relate to heart break I mean at one time or another everybody feels it. The other movies tim burton has created almost always have love tragedy death and have a bittersweet edge to them that you can't find anywhere else. His mind works in mysterious ways! There's not much you can do about breakup.

Her despair definitely sets the tone and you can see how desperate she is even though that's harsh. She was hurt and then he came along and her wildest dreams have suddenly come true and she is the most thrilled until they go to the land above and instead of seeing his parents as promised she saw him with his fiancé of all people. You could feel the tension in the air and in that scene she was portrayed in a very disgusting way that made me feel her pain and Tm Burton did an amazing job with this.

Well, obviously the meaning is her despair over being rejected for something she can never change, and her friends, the lovely widow spider, and the funny maggot, try to cheer her up. She is the corpse bride. I absolutely love this movie and the songs. However a very serious error was made. It has written "I can feel THE pain", which clashes the meaning for someone who doesn't know the real version. It should say, "I can feel NO pain", as she is a corpse.
