I understand elie's song mosaic as a symbol of being repeatetly hurt, yet still in a constant search of an happy ending. She was broken for thousand times by her past loves and as she, while on the emotional bottom, meets the person she's singing about, she, idealisticly hopes this time would be different. She feels secure and believes his love is curing her cracks and wounds. But again, he breaks her and she's aware of her mosaic of life, the patterns we all repeat again and again, trying to find security in something familiar, even though that familiar old pattern always ends up with the same familiar patterned pain. Since she's now aware of it, she can at least learn something from it, and keeps the best memories of her love, that are left inside the cracks of disappointment he caused. She keeps the best from it and goes on, as we all do, trying to find a beginning of a new pattern.
