Epica – Cry For The Moon lyrics
Follow your common sense
You cannot hide yourself
Behind a fairytale forever and ever

Only by revealing the whole truth can we disclose
The soul of this sick bulwark forever and ever
Forever and ever

Indoctrinated minds so very often
Contain sick thoughts
And commit most of the evil they preach against

Don't try to convince me with messengers from God
You accuse us of sins committed by yourselves

It's easy to condemn without looking in the mirror
Behind the scenes opens reality

Eternal silence cries out for justice
Forgiveness is not for sale
Nor is the will to forget

Virginity has been stolen at very young ages
And the extinguisher loses it's immunity
Morbid abuse of power in the garden of eden
Where the apple gets a youthful face

Eternal silence cries out for justice
Forgiveness is not for sale
Nor is the will to forget

You can't go on hiding yourself
Behind old fashioned fairytales
And keep washing your hands in innocence

Mark Jansen: “This song is about a priest who abused a child. When I wrote lyrics, it was the hottest topic in the news. The main idea of the song is that there are also many painful intentions behind the doors of the church. The basis of many religions is good, but there are many sick people in the society. With the phrase “In the garden of Eden, where the apple gets a youthful face,” I try to say that Eve ate an apple according to biblical history, but this priest also ate an apple, mocking a young child. Worst of all, the church is often afraid of losing its “good name,” and therefore it pays parents to keep silent. It should stop. ”

Cry for the Moon is the first song in the "Embrace the Somthers" saga. It pretty much explains the pardoxical nature of the church. Like concealing that the host has cancer for so long, can cause the malignant malfeisance, abuse to metastsize to uninfected, and crucial elements of religion. Faith, devotion, and rigorous furfillment of dogma becames corrorded as people become disillusioned and cynical. The lyrics scream about layers, and layers of deception and misdirection over the millenia. However, the most intriguing cocept is the belief that exclusivity breeds self-rightuousness. The arrogent belef of supriority and the light that extingquishes everything that is vibrant can be nurtured in this incestuouis backdrop. The attempts by the church to buy off people in the sexual abuse scandals, not allowing women to hold the highest post the religion. Its persecution of homosexuality and basic human nature are alarming and straining. However, the truth will come out eventually, even if one clings to the fantasy of being redeemed by the dead.

You follow the word of god? Really? Have you read the bible?
I expect you to be out and one of the worst of them. The 'word of god' is full of violence and judgement, hypocrisy and murder of innocents. What you really mean is you follow your own invented version of another persons fictional creation. If god had never been introduced to you would not have the concept, you may have another, but the one you hold onto was taught to you by man. Santa claus for adults.
Believe in yourself, set your own moral guidelines, no one other than yourself knows what the greatest good is. It's for each person to understand in their own right.

Cry for the moon should call for true christianity to rise. Not to judge, but to show the love of jesus. Jesus is the judge. That is why I go to the word of god, live by it, tell others in music and actions more than words. We need to be real and not fake. There is no room for fake christianity. It is the real walk with jesus that changes lives. Epica inspires my music.

Very good song, one can write an essay on the song, and have to slough material. Their is one other aspect forgotten in my first post. The idea that accuser needs to have the moral high ground, and order to judge others. The song is accusing the religion by definition of being the ultimate hypocrites, by enacting policies that aleanated or dichotimized people in the past. A religion that supposed the great uniter, can became the great divider if it has the power to influence states or becames a force to reckon with themselves.
