Foo Fighters – Walk lyrics
A million miles away
Your signal in the distance
To whom it may concern
I think I lost my way
Getting good at starting over
Every time that I return

I'm learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
I'm learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?

Do you remember the days
We built these paper mountains
And sat and watched them burn
I think I found my place
Can't you feel it growing stronger
Little conquerors

I'm learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
I'm learning to talk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?

Now
For the very first time
Don't you pay no mind
Set me free again

To keep alive a moment at a time
But still inside a whisper to a riot
To sacrifice but knowing to survive
The first to climb another state of mind
I'm on my knees, I'm praying for a sign
Forever, whenever
I never wanna die
I never wanna die
I never wanna die
I'm on my knees
I never wanna die
I'm dancing on my grave
I'm running through the fire
Forever, whenever
I never wanna die
I never wanna leave
I never say goodbye
Forever, whenever, forever, whenever

I'm learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
I'm learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?

I'm learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
I'm learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough

After 19 years with the only woman I could never stop loving; the ups and all the downs we are currently seperated. Trying to start over and find the sweet loving lerson I was when we met without all the past baggage is like learning to walk and talk all over again. At first all I wanted to do is die without her. Now as I find myself more and more again all I want to do is live to see us back on track and happy again. This song inspirese to keep taking step after step. It usually makes me cry butbits z good kind of cry.

Let me clarify for all that care. He is watching his child grow. He realizes that he has been missing the most important things in life. He realizes just how much everything he has done in the past has led up to what he is doing at this moment and its not a mistake. He along with his newborn is learning to walk again and take the next step in growing together and allowing love to keep him on track. Learning to walk again & learning to live again in the truth of rearing your child and protecting your family. Imho however to each their own :)

For me, this lyric is about what it's like to be in a relationship that is continually interrupted by absences.
The sharp pain of separation both precedes and follows the joy of rediscovery and the intimate closeness of deep emotional connection. That's exactly how the song as performed is structured - wistful longing and bittersweet wondering about starting over precedes and follows the highly emotional moment of connection. Musically, the song reinforces the importance of that moment of intimacy by reaching its crescendo during the deep emotional connection phase of the relationship. It's at the point at which the author is expressing her or his pleading desire to live forever and never say goodbye that the song reaches its denouement and returns to the theme of having to start over - a rebirth of sorts.
It's clear that this cycle of coming and going is a powerful and dynamic force in this relationship.
You can fill in the blanks about the particulars of the cause of the separation with whatever circumstance fits your own life - someone who travels on business frequently - a military person - a touring band - I think this lyric fits them all. I think the song isn't about the particulars of the separation and it's more about the process of the relationship for the people involved.

This song really reminds me of me. I am a recovering alcoholic that screwed up my life and was in the verge of losing everything until one day I said enough. Now I am learning to walk and talk again. To see the world through a new light and enjoy every moment. This is a great song and thank you to the foo fighters for writing it. Very funny video too ny the way.

He means that after spending all his time with something that doesn't matter he's learning start over. He's learning how to live again, how to be independent and how to enjoy life even though everyone else may try to stop him or beat him down. To me this song is about new beginnings and how you shouldn't let the past or anything keep you from moving on and doing what makes you happy.

To me, I think dave talks about how america has lost its way in the direction of society. How fast technology has advanced. You see this in when he throws his cell phone, then goes to try to use a pay phone and it just tells him to get a cell phone. Also I think it means how people have became so ignorant and cruel to others. He just trying to say lets look at ourselves and reevaluate how we go about our daily lives, do we need all this technology, lets be respectful to others and just go back to the simpler times.

When I first heard this I imagined dave grohl wrote this about the dark period in his life after the death of kurt cobain - sounding like maybe he had an epiphany that part of his life was behind him and it was ok to let it go, to move on and learn to live again. It's ok to be happy and enjoy his own life.
Then I see that the song wasn't written by grohl, so I'm curious who these song writers are? Either way, great lyrics, great song.
