Goo Goo Dolls – Better Days lyrics
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
'cause I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

So take these words
And sing out loud
'cause everyone is forgiven now
'cause tonight's the night the world begins again

And it's someplace simple where we could live
And something only you can give
And that's faith and trust and peace while we're alive
And the one poor child that saved this world
And there's 10 million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them

So take these words
And sing out loud
'cause everyone is forgiven now
'cause tonight's the night the world begins again

I wish everyone was loved tonight
And somehow stop this endless fight
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

So take these words
And sing out loud
'cause everyone is forgiven now
'cause tonight's the night the world begins again
'cause tonight's the night the world begins again

The line about the “one poor child” is about Jesus, but Rzeznik’s statement can be interpreted as a reference to to His 2nd Great Commandment - Love thy neighbor and the power of that love to save the world if it were followed. This is part of what makes this a uniquely great, true Christmas song. I’m glad it is getting some recent attention as a commercial theme for COVID-19 recovery.

I love this song and think it's really sweet. The only part that really bugs me is when he says "And the one poor child that saved this world, and there's ten million more who probably could, if we all just stopped and said a prayer for them." Correct me if I'm wrong, but he is meaning Jesus when he sings that line. If I'm right about that, then he is wrong about the 10 million more. Jesus wasn't just the son of man, he is also the son of God. He is perfect. He is the only one who could have died for the sins of everyone in this world, because he is the only one who never sinned.

The goo dolls are a significant and detrimental part of my life. On christmas eve of 2005 my life changed forever. I was five months pregnant with twin baby girls an was told neither of them would live yeets this damn intern kept giving me ultra sounds so I could see my babies moving around inside of me. I called him an evil b*****d and to turn away. He said it was protocal and all I know is that inwas bleeding so badly after 25 hours of labor that finally I had to have the doctors save my life because I wod have died and I didn't csre if I did if one of those babies could live. Every person dr nurse were crying for me. And in the end I was placdd the maternity ward because therecwere no beds a available. I td my doctor I was not staying ome more day but I needed alot blood. I have an adopted daughter at home and I was not staying for christmas day. I really want to know why a wheelchair takes 45 minutes to arrive. I was down two pints of blood and anger makes for a pretty strong woman. Now here is where christmas begins. As I was waiting for my husband to pick me up and the receptionist gave a man fixing a coffee machine the plate of cookies. I asked him why he was not home with his family and in a kind oice said too me because this is my job. He then handed me a the plate of cookies and said I want to give you one of my gifts. He.
Was giving me ome of his gifts. I cried then thinking of rvery single person who had to be admitted on this ight of all nights. The cookies were there for a reason and prrhpas the man fixing the machi e bad no where to go. I was the oldest of t kids a cookie was the.
Ost beautiful gift I have ever recieved. So for someone to live someone had to die. When I got in the car better days was playing. I never had heard the song before so I just listened and john robbie and mike are part of the reason I did not die. I have since had 8 miscarrarriages and have seen the goos eight times. Something in my life wants.
