    It can’t have been about his Fairlight as he didn’t get that until 1982/83 and he wrote this song prior to 1980. But possibly written about other equipment that he had at the time? One of the best Flowers songs and even 40 plus years later it still holds up

    I was told that Iva Davies wrote this song about his Fairlight syntheiser which was relatively new music technology at the time. Even though it was "programmed for perfection" it still made lot of simple errors. He was basically saying it was the top of the range at the time so it had nothing else to fall back on.
