That's not what manic depression is, with all due respect. I suffer from it personally. It causes you to be very depressed and hit what feels like 'all-time lows' when you are.
Yes, you'll be disillusioned some of those times and even lose interest in trying to move forward and in personal pleasure sometimes*. The thing about that is, it's out of your control. The medications available help greatly, but unfortunately, only if you don't consume alcohol.
If you have a woman who is contributing to your problems, rather than supporting you and helping you get through that tough time in your life, it's one of the worst things that can happen. You can't understand why this is happening to you from her when it's someone you love and supposedly loves you. I've been there also, it's horrible, and I see that in the lyrics of the song.
The other side of the illness, the manic side, is when you'll feel great for a while, but the 'up' is really way out of whack with how you feel in a normal good mood. It usually happens at very inappropriate times, also. At least as I've found in my experience. The lows are too low and the highs are too high.
A patient has to get good counseling, not just a dr. Pill-pusher. You'll (not you specifically, in general to everyone) need to talk it out with somebody as well as taking the meds and laying off the sauce. It may be tough, but it's worth it.
