Even though it's an oldie, this a great song. It's about a boy whose dad left him and never really cared about him. He tried to let his dad know he loved him, but the dad just walked away. When the boy got older, his heart grew cold and he began to hate his dad. He eventually realizes that even though his dad never loved him, his Father always did.

When the boy was young he loved his dad a lot but his dad didn't care about him or care that he loved him. Then his dad died and the boys heart was cold towards his dad and didn't care that he died. But when he saw jesus on the cross with his arms stretched out he realized that he hadn't gone unloved his whole life. His dad might not have cared but jesus always loved him and always would.
