John Mayer – Waiting On The World To Change lyrics
1, 2, 1, 2, 3,

Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything is going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it

So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance

So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They woulda never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on the door

When you trust your television
What you get is what you got 'cause when they own the information ooohhh,
They can bend it all they want!

That's why we're waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It's not that we don't care
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We're still waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Now we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)

Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change.

Check out the documentary Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism, and you will begin to get the picture. Add in Aaron Ruso's America: Freedom to Facism and you will understand what this song is about. We keep waiting for others to make the changes we want to see, and trust our elected officials to do as we ask. In fact, the elected officials are bought off by big corporations, yet we still shop at Wal-Mart, still buy the new tv's and cars, and go home to the tube and game systems. Content with our lives. Or are we? Who is making our food? Why is everyone so sick? Do your research. Buy from local sustainable farmers, stop the insanity! You vote with your dollar everyday. You vote for China's economy when you shop at Wal-Mart, you vote for your community when you buy that beef or produce from a local concientious farmer. Use your vote wisely. You have the power to change the way our world is. Stop waiting and do something!

This song has changed my life in ways you can't even imagine. It represents what has been taken from this generation and how everyone wants it back. These lyrics are definitely integral to today's times considering the presidential race.

To me this song means, how long will we extend the ignorance and prejudices of pervious understandings, if we have the facts and we know the reasons, we know how the hate was implanted in our understanding, and then why not make the decision to eradicate it. Who in the world could still believe that the black man is the reason for the white man not having work, that the jewish person holds all the money from everyone else, that the "yellow" man is not human, the red man are all savages and that the white man can control the destiny of all the races. Why, today are there still people who don't want to see other gain financial ground because of the color of their skin. How long will we behave like homosexuality is contagious and that we are great enough to pass judgment on anyone. The truth is we don't change on purpose, this is what the song is saying, who has the power to make things change? We all do we make a decision every day to keep things the same however we are constantly pointing the finger, launching accusations and asking when the next person is going to change our world. This is what this song means to me. Let it go. Every culture is infected with a slave mentality, we are enslaved to our ancestors passed mistakes, we are enslaved to a shackle understanding, we are enslaved by primitive actions in an evolved world. Just let it go.

The song's meaning is great. Talking about how tainted the government is and how they conrol everything we read/see without us even relize it. It's a shame that if you want to know what is really going on in the world, you have to get your news from outside the you. S. Same goes nfor medical studies and things of that such. There is already a cure for many diseases, but it doesn't pay for america to support them.
He's right, we can only wait and hope that our generation will do better for our system.

This song expresses the sentiments of a people who know in their hearts that our television-centered consumerist society has taken us so far away from any meaningful existence, and has put financial control, and therefore the power to control the information to which we're exposed in the hands of a very few who, with so much control, can keep us subservient to them indefinitely. At his core, I believe John Mayer is lamenting the fact that this is indeed, the sentiment, especially since we now hear John's voice on a cd entitled "Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement", which is all about the election ofpresident Obama. This leads me to believe he's much more optimistic about these things than this song would suggest.
