Kings Of Leon – The End lyrics
(1st Verse)
Running with the street lights
Laughing at the grave
He swears he's gonna give it up
It's never gonna be enough
I just wanna be there
When your all alone
Thinking 'bout a better day
When ya had it in your bones

(Chorus)
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end

(2nd Verse)
I see you in the evening
Sitting on your throne
And praying with the fireball,
And posted it up against the wall
I just wanna hold you
Take you by your hand
And tell you that you're good enough
Tell you that it's gonna be tough

(Chorus)
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
'Cause I 'ain't got a home

(3rd Verse)
Running from the street lights
Shinning on the grave
Once you've had the good stuff
Never gonna fill you up
I wanna be the one who
Gives 'em all the world
And gives 'em all a feel of it
Just a little taste of it

(Chorus)
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
This could be the end
'Cause I 'ain't got a home
I'm out here all alone
'Cause I 'ain't got a home
Out here all alone
Said I 'ain't got a home
Out here all alone
I 'ain't got a home
I'll forever roam
I 'ain't got a home...

From a romantic standpoint, it's about someone who goes along having his fun with sweethearts. And then dumps them. That person is not emotionally attached, knows how to control his feelings; their counterparts however do fall in love and end up heartbroken. In their hopelessness they wish they were on the other side (i wanna be the one who give 'em all the world) but instead they are heartbroken. Feeling it could be the end.
The person who didn't let him/herself fall in love, looks like a king on a throne playing with some magical power. That gives them a little feel of love. The person who falls in love wants to tell him it's 'gonna be tough' como q te vas a joder maldito y tal. But playaz play the game.

This is a song about drug addiction. Probably opiates. Started out as casual use, never thinking of addiction. No obvious signs of abuse yet. There is a person that cares deeply for this person and truly wants to be there for unconditional support and is starting to suspect "something". This person wants to confront the addict before its too late. 2nd verse the addict is getting sloppy and the friend is ready to confront and tell them it will not be easy, but they can do it. 3rd verse friend helps addict turn life around. The friend shows ex addict better ways to "have fun". But because of the drugs, he's lost friends, family and possessions so is now alone with know where to go. ? That's just what I got out of it.

I think its about someone who sees the misery in someones life. Sees someone that's suffering from insecurity, that is dying to be recognized. This person is trapped in a world where they are constantly degraded, never good enough for their family, their loved ones, nor society. And this song is about someone wanting to show them that they are good enouigh, that they mean something to someone, that a better day will come.

1st verse he is talking to a girl about a 3rd person, her last boyfriend I guess, who is running with the street lights and laughing at the ones he let down. The talking guy wants to comfort her as she is "sitting on her throne" means she is now alone. He is trying to reassure her "this could be the end" but it really isn't. The part about him ain't got a home may means that maybe the 3rd person he talks about is himself in the past and he regrets he ran from her cause now he don't have a home.

I believe that every song can mean several different things.I think it all depends on the person who is listening to that song, it also factors in into the equation of what they are facing in their life at the time. I personally interpreted as an alcoholic boyfriend that just wants to be free and wild and crazy live life on the edge test boundaries on a daily basis. Deep down he has aggression and anger and confusion and hurt from being used, betrayed, humiliated, belittled, in his past relationships but the one person that sees him as the beautiful person that he truly is. She tries to build him up as he's tearing himself down ,because he had no longer has faith in his own self. However that one person that does have faith in him knows that he may test the limits one last time and leaves her lonely. She knows then she will not have a home any longer because his heart was in fact her home.
