The first time I heard this song I was in a hospital room with my best friend who had just been diagnosed with cancer and they told us he may not see thanksgiving. I was so devastated by this. I couldn't understand why God wanted to take him away from us when we both were young and just getting into are sophomore year of high school, but he always smiled and always listened to 88. 3 a christian local radio station. One day when I stopped by he was crying and I thought something was wrong but when I asked he said he was so happy. He said "I am going to have a Christmas no matter what that doctor says. me and you are going to trade presents and everything!" at first I thought he meant December 25th but what he really meant was that before November was over we would have thanksgiving and Christmas together one more time. For a few days I was against his plan until I heard this song play on the radio. I began to cry silently and he woke up with a smile on his face when he heard it playing and rolled over and asked me if I would help grant his Christmas wish and I did he died a 2 days after our Christmas. Every time I hear this song I think of him and see him smile and start to softly cry. It has truly changed my life. As I get ready to walk across the stage in may there will be the empty seat next to mine to remember him.

I am a mother of three children and my youngest son feel ill. When the doctors called back and said that there were "leukemia cells present" I have never cried so hard in my life. The thought of loosing a child is something no parent should ever have to go through. You turn all of your pety problems and face the biggest fear imaginable. For children who know no other, they are happy, although dying inside, they smile, love, play and laugh. I am fortunate to have all of my children with me, but struggle daily with what "could be" it has definately taught me alot I didn't even know I had to learn.

This song is based on a little boy named dax locke who had cancer. The doctors said that he wasn't going to live for christmas. So, his parents and the whole neighborhood gave dax one last christmas. There is a movie called "the heart of christmas" where matthew west sings my favorite song "one last christmas" that is my meaning to this wonderful, heart-touching, and heart-melting song "one last christmas",

A student at my school (9th grade) passed away around midnight sunday night. Yesterday and today were two very emotional days at our school, and the rest of the week will be too. We all miss him soo much! This song makes us all think about how he didn't get to have that one last christmas. But we all know that he will be looking down on us this christmas and smiling. Although he may not be here, we can have christmas with him in our hearts. To dillon. You will never be forgotten, my friend!

I lost my grown baby brother to cancer this past year and he will not be here this year for christmas. I remember hearing this song last year by matthew west and hurting for my parents because I knew that would be our last christmas here on earth together. I knew my brother would not be here this year and it would be difficult for all of us. Losing a child no matter what their age changes your life forever. What a beautiful song.
