Metro Station – Shake It lyrics
I'll take you home if you don't leave me at the front door (leave me at the front door)
Your body's cold, but girl we're getting so warm
And I was thinking of ways that I could get inside (get inside)
Tonight you're falling in love (let me go now)
This feeling's tearing me up (here we go now)

Now if she does it like this, will you do it like that?
Now if she touches like this, will you touch her right back?
Now if she moves like this, will you move her like that? (Come on)

Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it

Your lips tremble but your eyes are in a straight stare (straight stare)
We're on the bed but your clothes are laying right there
And I was thinking of places that I could hide (I could hide)
Tonight you're falling in love (let me go now)
This feelings tearing me up (here we go now)

Now if she does it like this, will you do it like that?
Now if she touches like this, will you touch her right back?
Now if she moves like this, will you move her like that? (Come on)

Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it

I saw you dancing and I couldn't get you off my mind
(I could tell that you could tell that I was takin' my time)
I was thinking of ways that you would stay and be mine
(Your body's shaking, turn me on, so I can turn off the lights)

Now if she does it like this, will you do it like that?
Now if she touches like this, will you touch her right back?
Now if she moves like this, will you move her like that? (Come on)

Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it

Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it
Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it

Superstar123, I looked on your profile and you've been saying all this crap about different songs and sooner or later your gonna get a lot of people pissed off and every song you listen to you either type a super b! Tchy meaning or something like that. Like I said before some people have different opinions and if you actually think this is funny. It's not. Go back to your little crawl space of a room and sit there a think of how many people you pissed off because seriously I'm getting really freakin ticked off about it and alot of people are ticked off about it. And I read one of your meanings and it said "I got touched way more than Ke$sha"! And I'm pretty sure Ke$ha is nicer and prettier than you will ever will be so shut up! Oh yeah and if you have been touched that much your probably a H0e!

Superstar123 (oh what do you know, another irony, bet he or she or it couldn't be a superstar to save their life. Anyway.) it's not all americans at all, shall I tell you why? Cos I'm british, and every british friend that I have spoken too, like this song. So what if the lyrics are a little. Oh how did you put it?. Oh yeah, rude. Isn't that what society lives in today? How old are you? 2 or 102? Cos they're the only age groups that don't like 'rude' things, cos one's too young and the other is too old. Or has done it that many times, it becomes boring.
What you need to do, superstar, is find songs you like, and comment on them, instead of commenting on songs you don't like, cos that just tells me that you have a secret fetish for the song.
    Anyway, tis a cool song.

To Shibby. I never said shocked. Trust me, I'm not shocked at all. The "awkward" was more of a play on words since the guitarists sister is Miley Cyrus, who (annoying) always says "Awkward!".
I wish people would stop and think about it. I agree with the person that wrote about "if you aren't ready for a kid, you're not ready for sex". Even if you take out Christian morals, you should keep that in mind. Because the only gaurantee for no baby is abstinence. Plain and simple.
The reason why I mentioned the Christian background is because that's what the Cyrus family claims to be. I won't go off on a tangent. But I will say that a family in the public eye shouldn't be throwing that word around unless they are ready to be watched on their every move.
To the guy saying to get our minds out of the gutter. Stop fooling yourself. It's about s*. Just has a catchy tune so people will dance to it.

Hey superstar123. You need to shut the h*l up and go back to Britain. No one wants to hear you b*ch on and on about some band that you don't like. I bet most Americans don't even like the music you listen to. I'm not saying this to be mean but what you said was really stupid and so what if we like Metro Station? Most people do and if they don't then they don't. It's their opinion and like I said no one cares what you think anyway. You need to shut your big, fat, bi*chy mouth and just crawl in a whole and listen to that crappy music that you listen to and leave us alone. If you want to be a b*ch about it then no one wants to hear it. So shut up.

The shaking is part of the lapdance. Look closely at the lyrics. "I was thinking of ways that I could get inside". "Your lips tremble but your eyes are in a straight stare. You're on the bed but your clothes are laying right there".
And about the question of why they are posting the song out for kids. Think of "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hollaback Girl" and "Lolipop" and the list goes on and on and on and on.

I don't get the debate, of course it has references to making it but also to dancing. Two things that are pretty well linked because a good dance is like good s*. Its hot and sensual. I don't mean the grinding and all out pornographic dancing, but dancing close with someone you love, feeling their body against yours, feeling there heart beat to the music, their hands touching you. It's quite possible to feel the same oneness that you can get from making love as you can with your clothes on, on the dance floor.

Is anyone picking up on the fact that it sure sounds like a 2 girl/1 guy threesome? A guy is singing, "Now if she does it like this will you do it like that? Now if she touches like this, will you touch her right back?
Now if she moves like this, will you move it like that? " It sounds to me like the guy is asking two girls to do stuff. Just my opinion. Anyone else?

Haha wow this is the first metro station song I ever heard and for the longest time I was addicted! I listened to it when ever we had free time in class and it was the only song I would listen to and by the like 3rd time I listened to it I had the lyrics memorized and would go around randomly singin to people at school and they would give me weird looks but then some people would started dancing right back with me and now practically my whole school is hooked on that song thanks to me :)

I agree with monique_slashbash about the meaning.
But I think it's ok for bands to sing about shallow stuff once in a while. They're young yet, so hopefully as they mature, their music will to. There's only a number of things you can write about if you haven't experienced much I suppose.
I also love how you have to literally dissect every song line by line for some of these guys. Hahaha.

Shake it, not suprised at all at the age of the writer! People are having s* younger and younger these days, if they only knew what they are getting themselves into, they would hold off as long as humanly possible! I didn't have s* for the first time until I was almost seventeen but it doesn't mean that I wasn't thinking about it and learning about what to do and when. I think it is a good thing to be well educated about s*!

Wow! This song is great everyone! In our class we have ipod's they are only listening to one song shake it! When we first heard that song all of us are dancing we were like crazy teenagers. Then the kj showed up(That's our teacher) she's shouting and shouting until the principal showed up and talked to her then she become very quiet like there is no people on our classroom then she get out, get her bag and leave we have 2 hours left and there is no guarding us because all teachers are busy so we get our ipod's turn it up to maximum volume then we connect it to the speakers now we have our own music party that day was the greatest day of our life! Were never gonna miss that day. That's our story so vote me up!

I love this song but the lyrics are crappy! I don't think its a big deal that a seventeen year old wrote this song I mean most people have had s* or at least thought about it by age 14. I had it when I was 13 and I just turned 14 but done it 3 times now and don't see what the big deal is there is a time that's right for every one!

The lyrics are dumb yea, but when the song comes on you can't help but sing to it, plus its got a pretty good beat. Oh and to the person that was "shocked" that a seventeen year old would write about this, well believe it or not. When you hit like what 16, s* is on your mind. And it wouldn't be too surprising for someone to write about it at that age, most have already had s* by then. Whether they grew up with Christian values or not(I did, but I still had s* by 15, and I'm still with the guy I lost it too, 17 now.) s* is something that's on everyones mind at that age, so yea, "shocking", not so much.

Wow. This song sucks. So does Metro Station. They're ugly, just a bunch of untalented losers joined up to form a weak band with an idiotic name. All you lovers are idiotic too, and obviously are deaf and can't hear the rustiness and gravel hidden deep in Metro Station's vocals - oh yeah, they're not hidden deep they show a lot! Plus Stinky Miley's brother, Trace (ugly name too), isn't singing at all! He; s just speaking the words in an almost-whisper, and it sucks. Also this song has a rude meaning, only twisted into different words. So basically, they make you think it's about dancing, but it's actually about s**. If you look closely: "We're on the bed but your clothes are laying right there." They're in bed. And not wearing clothes cuz they're "laying right there". Isn't it just a tad obvious? This song is inappropriate and even if it was about dancing, it would still suck. And if it was about dancing, as a matter of fact, it would be extremely ironic because the ugly and untalented members of Metro Station couldn't dance to save their lives! You crazy, mental people think that they're all that, but it's a few random twits dragged together so stupid Americans can have something new to drool over mindlessly. Yes, I mean all Americans!
