    I have suffered with depression for years. It runs in my family. Though I have been blessed with a wonderful husband, beautiful healthy children, and a wonderful life, I still struggle at times with being overwhelmed with the common stresses and uncertainties of life. There are days when I just don't want to face my life, as good as it is in most ways. I'd prefer to just stay curled up in bed asleep to avoid dealing with relationship issues, stress, responsibilities, etc. I have children to take care of, so I don't do that, but I'd often like to. This song speaks to me as if god, my father, is talking to and encouraging me. Reminding me not to sleep through my life, but to keep my eyes open and live it! Reminding me to keep trudging through the difficult days ("soldier on, into the storm") and not to give up on living. That he will bet here waiting "on the other side. " it is a good thing to hear and be reminded of on those days when life is hard! This has become my favorite song!

    Don't let sin or shame overcome you. God's plans are so much bigger than any human could every understand. Keep running the race fixing your eyes on the prize which is jesus. Keep your eyes open for things the lord is trying to do in your life. When you go through the hard times remember that his love never fails. God is only putting you through the hard times to prepare for something much bigger.

    Jesus can fix anything and his love always wins out. We just need to encourage those around us to keep their eyes open to his purposes each day! Awesome song & lyrics! It's every mother's heartwish to know her children are strong and growing in the lord. My favorite phrase is "... So tell me you're strong, tell me you see... I need to hear it, can you promise me... " especially when you've pruned and prayed for that very strength. When it shows up. It's beautiful and takes your breath away. The fact that needtobreathe made a song about one of those moments is very cool. ~a mom.

    The last phrase says it all. When you've chosen your side, (jesus), the enemy tries with all he has, to then bring the fight to you. It's as if by chosing jesus, we've drawn the line. We now have to keep our eyes fixed on him. Open them wide, take the jump, get out, keep our eyes on him. Let all the rest go. He's there. Your (dance) is special to him and he always wants what's best for us, (for me). Thanks for the song needtobreathe. John.

    This song has a personal meaning to me. I met this wonderful girl who I dated for a couple of months, and she wasn't a christian. The lyric "keep your eyes open my love" sounds like what I keep telling her, to keep her eyes open, and to keep seeking god. To open her eyes and see what has been in front of her the whole time. And that i'll be "waiting on the other side"

    While it can be taken multiple ways (honestly at first I thought it was referring to human love) if you look at all the song lyrics, it becomes clear that it's about God's love for all His children. It goes from just catchy and sweet, to deeply, deeply meaningful. There is no judgment from God when we screw up, just a hand held out to lift us back up and set us back on His path, and "keep our eyes open" for what He has in store for us.

    This isn't taylor swift, this song is by needtobreathe! Love this song! God has shown me something: I only had exactly 76 cents left on my itunes card and I heard this song on the radio and went to by it. I was disapointed to see that all the songs on the album was a dollar and more. Except keep you eyes open, it was exactly 64 cents. Thank you god for providing. Again!

    My son is my king. He has done so much for me and my life. We went through a year of not sure what was going to happen, which path was he going to choose. He basically lived and breathed mom and dad his junior year of highschool. He made it and it was really hard to see him graduate, emotionally, knowing that he was ok thank god! After graduation he started working and going to college, doing fine wanting to get a degree in criminal justice to eventually work with fbi. He came home one day and told us "they are picking me up tomorrow at 2:45, i'll be going into the army". He leaves july 31, 2012! This is my song to my son from a very proud mother! You go natedog! I love ya bubba!

    I never thought of it that way. Even though it seems so obvious now. I totally agree with you guys on what you said. When I listen to this song I think of god singing it to me, and am encouraged by the way he loves me and believes in me and thinks I can do it. He is telling me to be brave because he is with me he will never let me go. I need to let go of my sin and my strong connection to this world of being my home and look to the promise land where I am headed. And keep my eyes open, as in I need gain understanding of who god is, like keep my eyes fixed on the truth, that god is love. When I really see god's love that is when my eyes are really open.

    I saw oscar pistorius (the blade man) running while I was listening to this music. Oh what a beautiful synchronization! It was as if needtobreath actually made the music while watching oscar run. The part where it says "'cus if you never leave home, never let go.
    You'll never make it to the great unknown" speaks volume. How many oscar pistorius are out there (not necessarily amputees but any kind of disability) who just cling to the definition society gave them and never want to let go? Oscar left that comfort level (left home) and against all odds reached his great unknown!

    I agree it's a love letter from god to his children. Like most of their songs, they have an understanding they want everyone to know. I hope this gets realesed on mainstream. Radio. Like myself otherd may not understand what he's saying and have to look up lyrics! At that time, be embraced by so many other song lyrics I can only thank and praise god for these talented young mean to water that seed and continue to strengthen and lead other men, including my husband, in a real relationship with his true father in christ.

    I think there are many different interpretations to this particular song, but I believe the main goal they are trying to portray is that you can't always stay in your comfort zone. Jesus is calling everyone to be bold and stand strong in what you believe in, which is his righteous way. They are trying to tell us that the road that you venture on will sometimes be unbearable, but once you make it to the other side jesus will be waiting on you.
