Ok, first of all monarchy of roses is a reference to the constitutional monarchy of britain. The reference comes from the fact that the english flag comes from the resolve of the war of the roses, which ended in the union between the house of lancaster and the house of york (their colors were red and white roses seperately which combined makes the white background and the red cross of the english flag, which makes part of the british flag which in turn is a combination of the english flag and scottish flag.). Now explaining that the song meaning will make more sense since the song is about the struggle of northern ireland. How the people are divided between irish nationalists (those that want to join the republic of ireland) and the loyalists (those that want to stay apart of the british empire, which is the uk.), and how the cultures are mixing there. The communist reference has some meaning there because many believe the only way to really solve the issue in ireland is for ireland to become a socialist republic, but that's for another discussion. Anyway the main focus on the song is how a citizen of northern ireland is a nationalist and many of his friends are loyalists and how the uk would be perfect if not for all the lies.

Roses are a means to convey affection so the word roses is used in 'monarchy of roses'. But on 'we all want the rose' they are talking about the woman. I guess monarchy of roses might mean trying to win women over. It happens in our daily lives and almost everyone participates in it. It's all about winning girls over and it seems to be the only thing on people's minds. I guess we do put finding someone to love above everything else in our lives. So 'monarchy' having it govern our lives, seems to fit about right.

I should not be doing this right now while my scriptures are feeling abandoned, but here I go what I think this song is about.
The "crimson tide" is referring to blood that runs thought this girls body. "Monarchy" of roses would be king of roses; the king would be Anthony and the roses are Love/women but more women. "several of my best friend wear the colors of the crown." referring to his buddies that like the Laker's who colors are gold and purple which are also royal colors. This girl he is talking about is a combination of Mary and Sherry; Mary a biblical reference to the mother of Jesus and sherry referring to a drunk girl "The savior of your light" refers to Jesus and then the king of women(the monarchy of roses) the man the girl can never get. Roses is not only referring to women but a specific kind of woman rich intelligent and beautiful. Yeah they all want that rose or perfect woman. The cross between heaven and hell in the girl reminds him of his exes "his former queen" is referring to Nina Hagen and "holy tears of Ireland" referring to Sinead O' Conner. The sailors of the night is him (Anthony) and his boys. And the ending line I'm pretty sure is wrong on here, what I hear is "For the story knows I will always haunt you!!" All and all I think it is a great song musically and lyrically just slightly pompous on Anthony's part. But Its still a great song.

It's so deep that it's very difficult to explain. I feel that it could be about how one chooses to live life and how people think it should be and different views and ideas of how it should be which should not have to be so complex. However you choose to live or perceive everything that goes on around you and how you think it should be dealt with; it's best just to let that go. It's best to just keep it all simple instead of making life so much harder than it should be and waging wars, kind of like coexist.

Each person has their own taste. Women and men alike. But if a man expects a woman to be all he wants her to be its just too much. No person is perfect and you could spend your life trying to find mr or mrs right but your always going to crave more. When you have your perfect match you start to envy your friends and that's the way the dating world works. Looking for the perfect person, and finding the second best who in reality is the best you can get. The song means that every person has their flaws and the flaws of one may conflict with what you see in other couples.

Rose is the symbol of the Rothschild family who most European royals and aristocracy descend from, even presidents and prime ministers are from the same line, not really that weird when you think about how infatuated with bloodlines they were/are. This song sounds like a glorification to the ruling elites, and the holy tears of Ireland confirms this when you understand how Irish have been persecuted by British establishment for years. And when you understand the almost satanic rituals behind the current monarchy, and if you think this is crazy, you should do some research. The song is kind of sick really, RHCP must have sold their souls to Illuminati. Yes I know, I'm a crackpot. Sigh.

Monarchy of roses was like a battle of two familes in great britain I believe like the battle of roses one side of red and one of white and mary was one of the queens that was married to king richard, who killed several of his wifes for not being able to bare children. I know I'm probably a bit off but that was a rough history lesson. If that is anyhelp your welcome ~blak.
