It's called "lost love" because they only realized it was love after they lost it. For if they knew then they never had let it end. So they "almost had it all". Except that one or both was lost in what it is and had called it off.

This is a song about "the one that got away". It is about a relationship that was in the beginning stages, that could have possibly gone a lot further if they could have both made more of an effort to try.
Both they really loved it other; probably were to afraid and cautious. But you can't try to fight falling in love - it just happens whether you want it to or not, especially when you touch someones soul; 'a moment in the soul can last forever'.

The meaning is a love that didn't have the chance to grow because of the circumstances around, it is more applicable to secret love. The song is also talking about the past and present, past is..The night (a particular night) we held on till the morning.. Couldn't we reach inside and find that love of me and you and Didn't we almost have it all. The present is help me bring the feeling back again. Maybe there was also a crush that something beautiful happened one night and then, that was all so, life has crossed their paths again and she's reminding the guy.
