Tyler Burkhart – At The Park lyrics
It was just you and i at the park that day
I think it was a week ago
Approaching dark when we got there
But we didn’t think much about it
We followed the path to a bench
When the wind picked up
Blowing cool as black clouds rolled in overhead
Like a dark curtain with patches of light
It open ed, and the rain started to fall
So i opened the umbrella
And we sat down to watch

I asked if you wanted to go back to the car
You said yes and we ran through the rain
I held your hand
I closed the umbrella then so I wouldn’t get struck by lightning
But we agreed it would be pretty funny if I did
We made it back to the car and sat there
Until the rain stopped
Watched the sky turn from gray to
White and orange and purple

Then once the rain stopped
We walked back around the park
Walked the same path as before, there were puddles and we jumped in them
And then you stopped me
And I saw the deer, frozen in the field, staring at us
And we stood there and held one other
And held their gaze
I thought it was funny
Like they were looking straight through us
Like we weren’t even there
