Meaning
I just saw that my musings were already discussed, so mine is a bit redundant after all. Oh well. We all have our own imaginations that can lead to similar ideas at times. Being a Jew and a writer, my imagination sometimes picks up on familiar themes that I wonder about and that relate to my own conscious and unconscious feelings and beliefs.

Meaning
Consciously or unconsciously, could Eli's coming also refer to the return of Elijah signaling mashiach (the anointed one) is coming? She does make other references such as "down on her knees". The mashiach is defined as a man, a leader who will bring the Jews to peace but will also punish all those who have harmed the jews in the past. Some believe that all Jews will be brought back to life at that time to live together in peace and prosperities. There are a lot of references to Elijah in other songs and celebrations, such as on Pesach when an extra glass for wine is put on the table for Elijah in case he should come at that time to partake and to signal the end to suffering and peace evermore. Many writers of prose and poetry transfer more than what they realize into their works, which is unavoidable really since we can't communicate at all without bringing ourselves in somehow. So, there are often possible unconscious meanings.
