Although a lot of people think this song is about her & Liam, it was not actually written by Miley, nor was it written for her. The song was written by MoZella, Stephan Moccio, Sacha Skarbek, Lukasz Gottwald, and Henry Russell Walter, who originally had Beyonce in mind to sing it. As they kept writing they realised it was not really suited to beyonce, so they offered it to Miley. The timing was perfect with her & Liam's break-up, hence why so many people think it is about them, and although she might relate the song to their relationship, it was not written about it.
