I used to sing this song in Scotland as a child in an orphanage some 70 odd years ago. I've always been somewhat ambivalent about Scotland but this song is a good memory. I watched the 2022 Edinburgh Military Tattoo a few nights ago and had a good bawl to myself. I decided to search for this song in particular because my husband of 41 years passed away recently and it expresses how much I miss him.
