Oh my, here we go. I love the sound of this song. But the lyrics so clearly represent and fuel the huge social stigma affecting folks that do actually have the medical disease of bipolar. I have not met a diagnosed person yet who wants to be bipolar. It's not something you ask for and it is pure hell. Intense crying, paranoia, illogical depression and suicide are all symptomology that can only successfully be helped with treatment; medication, cognitive behavioral therapy and peer/family support. It takes a lot of effort on the part of a dignosed person to pick themselves back up, true. Having to take the meds should not be made fun of by someone supposedly trying to help- which is what I think this artist aimed to do; give a tough love message but ridiculously fell short by very obviously not being education on what the diagnosed person can and cannot control at the moment they are hurting the most. Shinedown defeated the purpose of their message beautifully.
