My dad used to sing this to me and my brother while he rocked us each of us sitting on the arm of the rocking chair. It always made me cry. Little did I know a few years later we would lose our mother to cancer when we were only 7 and 10. This was in 1965. I always felt during this time that if it weren't for our dad, we might be out in the street, too.
