There is no indication of an end of the world in 2012 even by mayan accounts, it's just the end of a dating cycle, like 2000 was for us. Millenialism is just a way to get people afraid and manipulate them, whether it is based in Mayan, Xtian or Xenu. Control is control, and that is what Scars is saying. It's all bs.

He's talking about the media alot though as well, which pushes that panic button, the idea that we are at the edge constantly, that the world is going to end, and it acts to both manufacture consent for the worst depravity that our government inflicts on other nations, as well as the feeling of hopeless isolation. No where else in the world other than america does the "end of the world" theme play as powerfully, inciting the public into an orgy of violence and causing us to advocate the funding of the largest defense budget on the planet (greater than every other country combined), while neglecting social programs, basic health care, hunger, and poverty. Currently the Armageddon clock is set to the Mayan Long Count in 2012. For some reason the end of the Long Count is mysterious and ominous, like Dec 31, 1999. 2012 is more convenient however because the world didn't end in 2000, or 2001, or the year 500, or the year 801, or the year 1000, or 1127, 1250, 1251, 1260, 1320, 1367, 1420, 1420, 1500, 1533, 1640, 1666, and on and on and on.
