I was always embarrassed about my name, until a date took me to see the movie shortly after it came out in 1965. When I first heard Richard Plummer sing the song with my name in it, it sent chills all over me, and it still does, every time I hear it. As commenter "unregistered" so apply noted, I was one of that unsure generation in the aftermath of Hitler's regime. The song "Edelweiss", so beautifully composed by Rogers and Hammerstein, brought a sense of peace and happiness about being German/Austrian to me for the first time in my life, and continues to do so 5 decades later.
