Growing up with a parent and/or sibling that has a mental illness, you gain a lot of "childhood fears". If they become their parent's caretaker, there is a very real possibility of losing oneself. In the lowest of times there is nothing you can do but hold them while they cry and in the manic times try to ease their fears. All you can do is pray for a good day and hold their hand through it all. It is very possible for a caretaker to become so lost within that person's care and needs that when they are gone, you do not have any idea what to do. You have no clue who you are, where to turn, you see that person in your dreams, you hear their voice, you fear for your own sanity. "Now I'm bound to the life you left behind". It is very, very tiring. It is almost as if they are still there, "But you still have all of me..." Even the title of the song brings this to mind. I am my mother's daughter.
