This is a song about surrendering everything to Jesus. It usually uplifts me when am feeling down, most especially that part of "Lord i need to meet you there....take my hand lead me closer"... To the river is the place where you lay down all that is burdening you. God will never forsake you no matter what.
Even though you go through the hard times, Jesus will always be there. Surrender to Him, all shall be well, He promised He will be with you.
