I think these lyrics represent someone who was either physically, spiritually, or reputationally dead and that person's release from the hand of death. This person is going to reinvent himself, despite the beliefs of everyone around him. Kind of like in Man in the Mirror, and how Micheal Jackson is going to change his ways. Only this song is a more hardcore and darker picture of the redemption of said person.
