This song is clearly about the fact that Christians, as a whole tend, to take the parts out of the Bible and compare it to the lives that we're already living instead of reading the Bible and changing our lives to adjust to how God says we should be. As Christians, we are supposed to be like Christ, instead of making Christ into us. That is what As I Lay Dying is telling us. Yes, As I Lay Dying is a Christian band, but they don't like to be called "Christian" because of the labels that people tend to put on those who claim to be "Christian" and others perceive to be "Christian" even though they don't live a Christian lifestyle.
