In September 1915 Tsar Nicholas II left Petrograd to become commander-in-chief of the Russian army. He left his wife, Tsarina Alexandra, in charge of the country in his absence. However the Tsars only son, Alexei, had a severe illness and to help heal him the Tsarina asked Grigori Rasputin to cure him. After helping Alexei Rasputin help Alexandra with the government. Unknown to her he had his own agenda.
