This song was written by Roy Orbison for his first wife. After they divorced they were in the process of getting back together and I think that is when he wrote the song but I'm not sure. Unfortunately she was killed in a motorcycle accident before they remarried. Originally it was recorded by the "Everly Brothers", (I think because Roy couldn't bring himself to do it). He later recorded it himself. His two sons were also killed in a house fire while Roy was on a road show. This is one of my favorite songs to sing when doing Karaoke.
