Things cannot be reversed
We learn from the times that we are cursed
Things cannot be reversed
Learn from the ones we fear the worst
And learn from the ones we hate the most how to
Blow out all the candles
Blow out all the candles
"You're too old to be so shy"
He says to me so I stay
Before coming to this site and reading other comments I thought that maybe this song was just about a complicated love between two people, perhaps one has more power over the other. Now after reading the comments here it seems pretty clear that this is indeed about a young man and an underage young lady. He has convinced her to give him her virginity I bet. This phrase here seems to be the part of the song where the girl learns from what had happened. Things cannot be reversed she can never get back what she gave. Perhaps even in this verse she is speaking from her present age looking back at that time, now that she's older and hardened towards the experience.
