The fourth passage starting "And there's something you should know" says everything for me. A girl/lover was rejected while seeking for something special in the relationship ("girl you should have died that day and you fell reaching for the rose"). He tries to say that he was there for her. If only they/he realised he could have saved her/them. The chorus is a brilliant description of rocky but ultimately loving relationship. Hold on tight. We know it may be difficult. I won't ever let you fall. I care so much I will go to the end of my strength for you. O'er these city lights. Dazzled by the opportunities in life we both love the possibilities. But I love you most of all. No matter how far or where we go I have/never/can love anyone more than you.
