I think that the person who wrote on 11/14, is showing some of the elitism and arrogance that he is complaining about. This person is trying to place his 2014 mindset on a 1960's song. In my opinion this song is pointing out the hypocrisy of America. The contrast between the beliefs and values of what America is supposed to be about versus the actuality or reality of what it is about. The 2014 author is free to give his evaluation of what he feels this song is about but to criticize and try to negate the viewpoints others because they share a different view is the epitome of arrogance. This song is still relevant in 2016.
