Song is about war in a soldiers eyes, first paragraph is talking about working in the heat which sometimes soldiers have to do and can go without food/water for a couple days, also he's talking about his love (he's love sick/missing her) that he never thought about another women cuz she's all he need. Chorus means if he dies in the line of duty he will come home to her. Sec. paragraph is about he's was drinking his memories of war away and when he woke up he was in a hospital and he's was injury and fighting to live and he dreaming of his love and how she never judge him on what he did at war. (That paragraph is tricky it really have two meaning) last paragraph is about what he did in war his love never judge him on what he had to do in war. If lord doesn't forgive him for what he has done, she still loves him and he loves her cuz when he's with her, she's is all that matters and he forgets everything that going on around him.
