I think that it means that he wants her to know that he has done something terribly wrong something that he's loosing sleep over & debating if he should tell her, but he's scared to tell her because he doesn't want her to leave him because he loves her n he'd take it back if he could, n he's saying that if he told her, and she cried the tears that fell from her face would be so painful he'd wish for death, and if she didn't cry. He would want to know if she'd take him back and forgive him. This song has a cirtain meaning to me n its sacred to me I absolutly love it!
