John Mcdermott's songs are some of the most beautiful I know. The understanding given by his lyrics coupled with folk music as lovely always causes emotion in me. As my own mother nears the end of her life, it is even more touching, she and I having always been a little vain, and that we too have also shared an appreciation of the feelings John's songs generate, over the years- though neither of us would often say so. To me this song speaks of beauty in youth, maturity and until the last days of life, fresh cheeks as petals giving rise to an internal calm as we move to greet God. It is about saying goodbye and I will remember you with love, hasta maniana (until we meet again).
