The theme of this song is that you never even know what is happening to a person until it is too late. In this song a little girl has a very bad home life but she never tells anyone. She takes care of herself and packs her own lunches because her mother doesn't care enough to do it for her when she isn't beating her. She as to wear the same clothes in a road because she wants to hide the bruises from the nights before. Even as the teacher notices she doesn't ask but the girl never tells anyone so she can't ever get the help she needs. The pain she feels is kept hidden and she wishes she wasn't born so she doesn't have to bear the pain. The girl is the stone that gets hit with rain or the abuse but she can't get free of it. Her dream is to get free of all the pain and become loved. Yet again someone else notices but choses to not say anything, but this time it is too late; the girl dies from the mother's abuse. Finally she escapes so she can feel loved and on earth she still feels forgotten, which still causes heartache and pain.

When she was buried she got an angel statue that represented her being able to fly to a better place. She is also looking up to the heavens with an upturned face that shows she knows shes in a better place. but its in a shaded place because the world forgot her and that broke her heart: she never felt love here so this made it much worse for her.

The girl is strong but over the years that she gets abused and beaten she becomes a fragile person, physically and through her soul. God has a plan for her and has her fate already sealed in which would be the next morning. when someone could of helped her they chose to ignore it and she payed the price as a young girl for her mothers abusive nature.

The girl is like a rock that everyone, including her mom rains on and she can't ever get out of the rain or the beatings she get from her mother and the people around her. When she finally gets to let go and become an angel and fly home she will finally be able to realize she is truly loved, which she never felt in her short and fragile life in this world.

This part of the song is using a metaphor to compare the pain her face is masking to and actual mask that hides your face or emotions. The pain that she is masking is brewing like a secret storm inside her, caused by her horrible home life that she keeps a secret from everyone. As her times at home get worse and worse she starts to wish was never born.
