Why is this about suicide? Seems it's a retrospective look at a relationship falling apart. It falls to stereotypical roles with one person trying to rationally talk through the problem and the other not knowing how they got there. The confusion is the exchange is described in the abstract, until the chorus when he describes his remorse for losing the relation by not knowing how to save the Life they could have had together? Not to lessen the impact felt by the others, but maybe a different view?
